We are all one humanity, right? Right...ish. Biologically true, of course. We're all human. Philosophically also largely true: we all suffer, we all love, we all die. Culturally and civilizationally, though? Not true. And that's a GOOD thing. There is this extremely common belief that multipolarity - in the civilizational sense, the existence of different civilizational poles, the world we're increasingly entering into - will necessarily be more warlike. Many people think about it like they do the physics of celestial bodies: one star - unipolarity - means stable orbits. Two stars - bipolarity - is predictable enough. But add a third, a fourth, a fifth and you get chaos. "More poles, more war" is the basic thinking. In fact ask people around you and I'm ready to bet 99.99% of people will tell you, without hesitation, that more centers of power means more chances for conflict. Heck, Einstein himself, one of the most intelligent men in history, spent a decade thinking about this very question and concluded that only world government - the straight-up abolition of sovereign states - could deliver lasting peace. So it's fair to say it's quite the orthodoxy to take on, and that's probably an understatement. And if it's indeed true, it's highly depressing: the multipolar world isn't a hypothesis, it's already here. China, Russia, India, and the rest aren't going to politely de-rise themselves... If the thinking is true then we're all doomed: more war it is, and there's nothing we can do about it. Thankfully though, it's not true, not even close. Everyone is wrong about this, even Einstein, and dangerously so. In fact, when you actually seriously study the data, the pattern couldn't be more obvious: what triggers wars - in the overwhelming majority of cases - isn't diversity or the existence of various civilizational poles of power. Quite the opposite in fact: wars are overwhelmingly fratricidal, fought not between civilizations but within them - brothers killing brothers over who gets to define the family. As such, very much counter-intuitively, if you were to follow Einstein's suggestion of dissolving all borders into a single global polity, you wouldn't get peace - you'd absolutely guarantee war, and the worst kind of it. A world with no "foreign" is a world where every conflict is a family feud. And family feuds are the bloodiest of all. “We are all one humanity, let's just be one big happy family” is immensely tempting and a beautiful sentiment: it just happens to be the single most dangerous idea on earth. My latest article - "The Tyranny of 'We'" - is my attempt to prove just this. You actually want a world where others are allowed to be others, and you are you. You actually want a genuinely multipolar world. That's not a tragedy, it's the price of peace. Enjoy the read: open.substack.com/pub/arnaudbert…

I'm usually ahead of the curve and it takes the slow kids a bit to catch up. Here I'll use crayons for you. Trump sold us all out Israel. Our economy is going to suffer worse than corona from the energy cost spikes. You are going to be paying $6 a gallon soon and it will only continue to rise. Inflation is already worse than corona. And the markets will shortly follow. Trump fucked this up worse than corona. Your welcome

Putin is offering a damn good deal. We should take that deal. I got $20 that says Trump does as Israel wants, bombs Iran and this goes to a full global cluster fuck. Because it's 2026 and we only do worst case scenarios around here. Good luck Long Live The Republic

Basque is so unique! It’s as if a Spaniard started making up words and as he goes on talking nonsense he never loses his Spanish accent. Absolutely mesmerising, it’s like i’m suddenly hearing Spanish from the ears of a non-Spanish speaker

Breaking News: The U.S. was responsible for a missile strike on an Iranian school, an ongoing military investigation found. The inquiry said the strike — which Iranian officials said killed at least 175 people — was the result of a targeting mistake. nyti.ms/47G2uw2

@JohnOBrennan2 Would you not be just little suspicious when figures from 40 to 165 are quoted, your figure being the highest I've seen. Can you share how you had the figure confirmed ?

This is the image that will define this war - 165 young Iranian girls, killed while at school, who are mere ‘collateral damage’ to an out of control US-Israeli war machine.

Aerial footage shows rows of graves being prepared for the victims of the Minab primary school massacre, where 165 students were killed and dozens wounded after an Israeli-American strike targeted the school on the first day of the aggression.

After reading Matt Shumer’s “Something Big is Coming” yesterday, which has hit 55M views, I started searching high and low for any and all counter arguments. Not because I believed he wasn’t being honest. Or revealing valid a tectonic shift coming. But because there is always two sides (minimum) to every story. Not sometimes. All times. Forming opinions based on one side is how you get lobotomies becoming accepted psychiatric practice for twenty years. So, is there any other viewpoint other than the end of the world as we know it where we’re all noodling at the local lake for our dinner? Perhaps. And, if so, this is the best I’ve seen. Take a deep breath. And read it. You’ll take a deep breath after reading it, too.

Deep in the Pacific Ocean, you'll find a growing El Niño. Just three months ago, La Niña was near its peak. Now, its cool water is being replaced by building warmth. Some of that warmth is surfacing. And soon, it will probably culminate in an El Niño event. What that means 🧵

NEW: Maura Healey just said what Washington’s been dodging: Kristi Noem needs to go. Trump needs to end these ICE operations. And Congress needs to hold them accountable. That’s a governor drawing a line and daring the federal government to cross it again.
