In my opinion no one should marry a doctor BUT if you must I recommend one of those: 1. Anesthesiology 2. Emergency Medicine 3. IM - Infectious disease or nephrology only 4. Peds - All subspecialties except neuro & cards 5. Diagnostic radiology

There’s not enough discussion on here about how hard it is to do residency with distance. I was told was it’ll be okay, you’ll make it work. Here we are on our “golden weekend” after not seeing each other for months. Post 28 hour call. Keep up this in mind for couples match.

@DGlaucomflecken My favorite was when I was asked to present some really bad paper and have to pretend how important the research was because the attending said so. Died inside a bit ya know

So I asked a question during rounds about the A-a gradient and he said “why don’t you look it up and present it tomorrow after rounds,” so I spent hours on a presentation but the next day he never asked me to present.

@georgetolisjr Thank you for stating this. I agree. Taking multiple gap years off studying to do this ‘ research’ or to become medical scribes also takes them out of the work force for years, which we cannot afford with a physician shortage, and student debt.

It seems that in the absence of test scores and medical school grades, candidates are now flooding their application CVs with publications and presentations. Do we really want to encourage medical students to turn away from their textbooks and focus on meaningless research?

@ajduffymd About 50% of people from last Year didn't mention an impactful experience which is perfectly fine. It is never easy to share personal adversities, trauma and hardships so please don't count it against them.

Having reviewed hundreds of application for the surgery match this year, I can definitely say that anyone who didn’t write in an “Impactful Experience” has missed an opportunity. #Match2024
