There are a few places undersubscribed to fill the last table at the Naval Historians' Lunch on 23 October. This year the lunch marks the centenary of the birth of the founder, journalist and historian, Tom Pocock. Lunch is £90, applications to me.

Sad news from Buenos Aires that Ronnie Scott, who flew Spitfires in WW2, has died aged 107. @TimothyAbraham & I met him 8 yrs ago while researching cricket in Latin America. He played 3 games in Argentina's North v South in the 40s/50s. A formidable man batimes.com.ar/news/culture/r…
