Four variations of the Incredible String Band's 1968 album "Wee Tam & the Big Huge." The cover photos were taken in Frank Zappa's LA garden at 2401 Laurel Canyon Blvd. John Mayall also spent time there and he recorded the song "2401" for his 1968 LP "Blues From Laurel Canyon"
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 I have a Beatles Blue 67-70 on the Apple label and the dynamics on that are superb. Must be pre 74 as it doesn't appear French. Best £1 recently spent.
@peterglazed@StuartPenney1 Ps in general the quality of UK vinyl fell of a cliff during 74 to never fully recover ( the discs l used to have to take back 🤬 ) EMI got Pathe Marconi in France to press their Beatles back cat for two years, Other bands too could be contracted abroad, eg Deep Purple & Floyd
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 No K sticker, but have an upside down feather on one side only. The LP is not mint but plays really well. if it were Kinney I'm sure it would crackle.
@peterglazed@StuartPenney1 By a country mile, & there are two red plums that are even more collectable than the other red plums & thats including any ' Top ' or invrrted feather errors. Also red plum Zeps are prob the sleeves that got K stickered the most even though Zep 4 had no printing on it ffs !!!😃
@StuartPenney1@muffmasterh Yeah. Mines a Polydor "pecko duck". The dynamics are superb. Pye were always a bit prudish about bad language so I think Transatlantic did a few pressings. I have a Lenny Bruce at Berkeley which they distributed.
@GMB Surely you need a license to convey waste in a commercial vehicle? You enforce it with a Proceeds of Crime and seize offenders property. As always it's enforcement not new legislation.
The government has announced today what it's calling the “toughest ever crackdown” on waste criminals, in a bid to get a grip on illegal dumping.
Kate and Ranvir challenge Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds about the government's plans and when work will start on the illegal fly-tip site in Wigan where 18,000 tonnes of toxic waste has been dumped.
@StuartPenney1@muffmasterh They did. I stopped buying around about then as a consequence. If I buy a 2nd copy I prefer an old pressing over a newer one. It does seem a bit "Luddite" but they tend to be more durable as well as a better listen.
@StuartPenney1@peterglazed Yes those predated the oil Crisis. Actually l was going to mention RCA, they started their own pressing plant in 1970, before that they were part of the Decca distribution family from their UK label debut in 1958.
@peterglazed@StuartPenney1 Yes for some reason, around 1972 , a year before oil crisis affected others quality CBS had already moved to " frisby " vinyl !
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 I am confused now. If my Wee Tam etc was pressed by CBS a "solid lump" why had the quality dropped when Kinney took over? Was there a drop in CBS pressings generally?
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 There was a shocking drop in pressing quality when Kinney took over. I am no expert but I assume they had no "classical" music like Deutsche Grammophon or the petrol shortage?
@StuartPenney1@peterglazed Ps during the change there was a lot of crossing over with dual Kinney /pye matrices on discs with both K for kinney labels & WS/RSLP ones. Same with Atlantic group K/polydor matrices where the change was about a year later. Atlantic were also big on stickering for Kinney c 72
Least characteristic Dylan LP? His debut, Bob Dylan (out today, 1962), a set of folk standards that flopped. It’s quite good: his moody versions of “In My Time Of Dying” and “House Of The Rising Sun” (boldly, in female voice) are engaging; his original “Song To Woody” is moving
The number of voices in and out of football currently saying the PL is broken grows weekly.
Elite football has totally lost its way.
It's being steered by people who NEED to be invested in every busted flush from VAR to countless Champions League matches.
Everyone can see this
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 Mine is the same colour but doesn't say stereo so must be mono (and doesn't have an S on the number. Thanks for showing me what I'm missing. Mine is secondhand so either missing or for stereo purchases only.I prefer the Wee Tam although the Big Huge has it's moments.
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 Interesting mine is more orange than red. Distributed by Polydor and E J Day printed sleeve. What are the inserts I am missing? I think it's mono. Will Discogs assist?
@muffmasterh@StuartPenney1 Oh bugger. No inserts with mine which is an orange label pressing. Lyrics for both albums on the outside and picture one on the inside.
