@LincolnMargison I’m not dismissing the idea. I’m just curious if there’s a specific pain point you’re hitting. If it’s iteration time or usability, there might already be workflows like hot reload that help. I just want to understand the exact gap you’re saying needs to bridged

Well, do you use C++? If so, why do you EVER use or prefer BP for certain tasks? Is there anything about BP that you prefer that isn't the visual display of the nodes? Or do you use BP purely for the visual display of the node not a line of text?

In Unreal Engine we've got C++ or Blueprints, is there some technical reason we can't have something in between? Written code, ~instant compile time, but done in engine, which maybe gets properly converted/compiled when packaging? Like.. blueprint is just text at the end of the day isn't it? you can copy and paste it, so underlying it is just script text. Could that not just be formatted in a normal code way, still with the context sensitive lookups and such in engine? You could even gamify it a bit kinda like nodes if you wanted, where instead of typing in things when calling a function you drag some references into it etc.

@LincolnMargison No, I didn't say I don't use BP.. the question is what problem is being solved with something between BP and CPP?

Do you not use BP? If you only use C++ and haven't learnt BP you might not see it's advantages, but there are many UX benefits beyond just seeing things as nodes and lines. Seeing things represented that way is good for people who don't want to learn or see code, but that is 1/10th of the benefits.

@Jeff4theclimate Memorials shouldn’t become platforms for partisan blame. Grief deserves space and dignity. If we reduce complex tragedies to slogans or one political villain, we risk ignoring the real drivers, and fuelling more division.

@Andrewwhite74 @twoeoz Grief isn’t a licence for partisan blame. Tragedies have deeper causes than one PM. Radicalisation grows out of war, grievance, online extremism and untreated mental illness, blaming locally won’t stop the next one.

@mygene @ThePhysicsMemes If the gravitational gradient is weak, time on the planet and the ship should pass similarly. But Romilly aged 23 years, which suggests massive time dilation — feels inconsistent.

@ThePhysicsMemes They are not crushed because although they are in a very deep gravitational well, the local gravitational gradient is weak. Kip Thorne, the Nobel prize-winning astrophysicist, advised on the movie.

Wow. This little boy’s feelings are very hurt. Look at him. He’s gonna cry. “We’re gonna go after you.”😭 This is why everyone should make a personal pledge to take all non-violent, peaceful, legal actions possible to make his TSLA memestock go to zero.

an idea for paid plans: your $20 plus subscription converts to credits you can use across features like deep research, o1, gpt-4.5, sora, etc. no fixed limits per feature and you choose what you want; if you run out of credits you can buy more. what do you think? good/bad?

Apple Vision OS on Unreal Engine 5.6 is amazing. I thought this was a 5.5 test but what an incredible mistake! Look how great performance is and how tight my hand tracking performs!!! Straight vanilla VR template no optimizations at all, Huge leap here. Shippable! 😉🚢🚀

#postshot #GaussianSplatting

Iterating on my 3D Gaussian splats pipeline using an iconic Habitat 67 dataset, shared by @RealityCapture_ for educational use. What's better than a local dataset? This is just the first step in my current sprint. Alignment done in RealityCapture, with 3D Gaussian splats trained in PostShot.
