@k45983 @MaxVelocityWX I think in general people have gotten soft can’t remember a single time schools and businesses closed in my area other than for blizzards that block roads or extreme freezing rain events.

@MaxVelocityWX I think that most people rather than being disappointed in the lack of an outbreak are more disappointed with all of the distruptions caused by the meteorology community today. This was a massive mistake that has effected millions of people’s lives.

The amount of people upset that a tornado outbreak didn’t happen today is honestly ridiculous. When severe weather doesn’t materialize the way it could have, that’s a good thing. Yes, it may mean the setup didn’t fully come together the way forecasts suggested, but the alternative would have been communities dealing with destructive tornadoes, injuries, and lives permanently changed. Forecasting is about preparing people for the potential of dangerous weather. If the worst-case scenario doesn’t happen, that’s something to be grateful for, not disappointed about.

@cjholm70 @MaxVelocityWX Have you watched the weather lately models have been pretty accurate lately. My schools never closed for severe weather sounds like people scared and not prepared to me. You probably shouldn’t talk about something you have no clue about.

@MaxVelocityWX Wrong...schools were canceled..some businesses closed. How can computers f up forecast this bad lately. Being a Weatherman is the only job in the World where you can be WRONG a majority of the time....and still keep your job! And hell the Computers do most of your work!

Did the YouTube Weather streamers do a good job of managing expectations for today's anticipated severe weather? How about local television meteorologists? Seems like the public has some legitimate complaints but hard to assign blame.

Sometimes it feels like you’ve done everything in your power to warn people about what’s coming, yet it still feels like it wasn’t enough. It hurts to know lives were lost tonight. Prayers to everyone impacted by these devastating storms. A destructive derecho, along with multiple wedge tornadoes, turned this into a heartbreaking disaster.
