The tl:dr definition is Woke is Cultural Marxism; i.e. the tenants of Marxism applied to culture instead of economics. The longer version is that it is less a political ideology and more a puritanical secular religion complete with its own dogma based on gender theory, queer theory, intersectionalism, critical race theory complete with the oppressor / oppressed matrix, and other academic soft science sociological bullshit that cannot exist in the real world unless forced on people; thus the religiosity around this belief system that does not allow anything less than complete adherence lest you be cast out forever. Virtue and villainy in this world view are not assigned by the choices you make in your life that reveal the content of your character. No, they are assigned by things over which you have no control: Your immutable characteristics; i.e. your skin color, your sex, your orientation, etc. For the things you can control like bullshit gender declarations you can attempt to make yourself a victim and thus virtuous by declaring yourself a trans whatever or Zorp / Zorpi or any of the other bullshit pronouns, but that will only get you so far. In this upside down world Americans and Europeans are the most evil oppressors in the world, and Muslims are victims even though throughout history they have been the most horrific colonizing force the world has ever seen, the largest slave traders in history, the foremost abusers of women and gays and deniers of their rights, medieval deniers of basic individual rights like free speech and freedom of religion, and even to this day practicers of the horrifying forced wedlock for children (always little girls) simply because their skin color is not European in origin. That is Woke. It is very real, it is very retarded, and you're obviously a dipshit for pretending it's not real.

I've watched all of "Nu-Trek," as it's called today. I'll be blunt, being too "woke" isn't the problem for the Kurtzman era -- that's always been there. There has been hate for every iteration of Trek for a variety of reasons, including Earth being a socialist utopia. TNG was a carbon copy of TOS in season 1, and season 2 wasn't much better -- DS9 was really dark, and I didn't enjoy it as much in its first run as I do today The real reason they lost the fan base wasn't a gay Klingon in a skirt; it was lazy writing. One Trek Hill had the same baggage as Disco. The premise of The Burn was weak and poorly explained. Starfleet protocol was nonexistent, and at times the show felt like Lower Decks meets Police Academy 7—if that's the story you want to tell, bill it that way, and they will come. As long as the showrunners want blockbuster effects more than they want compelling stories, any new version of Trek is going to fail. I think we have reached Trek Fatigue again, and it may be time to shelve it until people who understand the universe are put back in charge.

@MattWallaceTech The plane was going more than 165 feet per second. At the start of this video it was still a quarter of a mile away. Plus the fire truck was at an angle to the runway so the plane was behind them and to the drivers right, likely in their blind spot.

Holy hell this was brutal to watch. How does a vehicle not see a huge commercial airliner on the runway?

And when the Next Gen came out; there was tons of hate because it “wasn’t Star Trek” and the cast probably was in fear from the fans. Again when the series with Bakula came out, it too was panned by the fans because it “wasn’t Star Trek.” Star Trek is different for everyone. 🤷🏼

During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show. Using today’s vernacular it would absolutely be called“woke DEI crap”because it went against “norms” of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.🤷🏼😑

Star Trek exists in more than one world. It exists in the fantasy of science fiction - weird and wonderful things that play unimaginable possibilities of exploration and human endeavor. But it also exists in the fantasy of human beings, the perfection of human beings, the exploration that human beings have made since the dawn of time and the continuing exploration - physically mentally and morally. It’s that aspect of Star Trek that I’ve always loved, to look at something physically that doesn’t exist now by these talented writers & designers but also to tackle the eternal human questions the agonies, the ecstasies. Star Trek should exist for a long time to come based on those truths. I for one would love to see its continuity. It’s with sorrow that I hear about the cancellation of the new Star Trek series.
