This is actually insane. In what world did pro golfers generate $1 billion in additional value, above what they already did, over the last 4 years? Phil is the Anti-Arnie. Arnie brought more fans into the game, and money was a byproduct of that. Phil caused an over-valuation that turned fans away from the game. He should be looked at as the person who almost killed pro golf.
Used Golf FACTS@UsedGolfFacts

Professional golfers as a group are ~$1 billion richer today than if LIV had never existed. In a just world, they would be building a Phil Mickelson at PGA Tour HQ. Instead, he’s been banned for life and erased from the history books. Sad.

The discourse around the Blue Monster this week is a great example of what differentiates between PGA and LIV hardos. The amount of people whom would be considered a PGA Tour schill/main stream golf media that have taken shots at this weeks PGA Tour event for a potpourri of reasons. While its nearly impossible to get LIV hardos to say anything negative about LIV over the last few years. 98% of PGA hardos are very hard on the pga tour, make fun of it all the time. Many negative complaints publicy stated re pga tour operation from pga tour hardos. Get a LIV hardo to take a shot at LIV, no easy task.

@NUCLRGOLF People in the comments probs making less than 100 a year talking about running a Golf league is hilarious. This doesn’t affect anyone’s personal day to day. Golf is golf. Just let LIV fail if it fails. Too much insecurity over a league failing in this comment section

🚨💰⛳️ #NEW — Sky Sports is reporting that LIV Golf have hired AlixPartners, LLP who specialize in restructuring, to help the league form a new business plan in an effort to find new investors. Sky also reports that LIV will soon tap a top investment bank to help with its funding efforts. Do you think this firm will save LIV Golf?

Joel, go outside. The Saudis tried to make money off a golf league and failed spectacularly. They were already schmoozing Trump without a golf league. This was a vanity project, not sportswashing. And the fans seemed to have a huge appetite for the drama. Just look at what this place turned into. Would love to see some proof of the "Bot Farm" accusation too that you have accepted as fact for years. Just a convenient way to dismiss opinions you disagree with as a "bot". A real human couldn't possibly disagree with you?

Defenders were scarce when Saudi-backed golf first emerged, beyond DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley, who greenlit a government partnership, and players pocketing millions. We may live in fractured times where moral lines blur, but some boundaries remain unmistakable. People with actual consciences could see them clearly. Then came the manufactured confusion. Bot armies flooded social media. A critical mass of players became regime mouthpieces. Bad-faith actors deployed endless whataboutism. Stakeholders made catastrophic decisions. An artificial divide emerged where clarity had once existed, and apathy set in. The pattern makes sense. Sportswashing and soft-power diplomacy are often misconstrued, believing they are designed to distract you from what’s really going on. On that front, LIV Golf has failed spectacularly. Everyone still knows exactly what Saudi Arabia is. But the real victory came slowly, almost imperceptibly. Professional golf surrendered to exhaustion. Players, fans, media, leaders—all grew so weary they accepted peace at any price. The moral outrage of 2022, briefly reignited during the surprise framework agreement a year later, dissipated into fatigue. Golf's audience had no appetite for a conflict that had consumed endless discourse, especially when confronted with murky global economics and relentless speciousness. Sports are supposed to offer escape, not force confrontation with reality's horrors. Many fans just wanted their sanctuary back. This is sportswashing's true power. It doesn't defeat resistance; it wears you down until you're numb.

Whatever happened to “Sportswashing” - is that still a term the CGM still uses? Or did they figure out we were on to their game & they abandoned it? Haven’t heard it in a while. 😂

Zara just came out with a golf collection, and I am deeply confused. There are some cool items, like retro-looking golf shoes/jackets, but there's also a $34 dollar "stroke counter," a sweatshirt that says "Score with each stroke" and a PEN that says "pencil always finds par." Lol. Will never understand why brands can't just consult actual golfers when they go ahead with this stuff.
