@connorpaton i'm three months post launching a B2C app and have fallen into that third group.. the excitement is gone, the twinkle in my eye has dimmed, and now i'm just working through despair daily, trying to address our problems in parallel like i'm a GPU of entrepreneurship 😂

you can tell everything about a founder by how they answer "what are you working on" at a coffee shop some light up. some rehearse a pitch. some look tired and say "man, i don't even know anymore" the third group is usually building something real

@benblumenrose a) love your take on positioning, would have definitely helped! b) the Luce design uses shapes from the experimental cars of the 60s & 70s and i kinda really like it (the interior is undoubtably good tho) c) i think this design language on two door vehicles will absolute slap

Start with Why - Quick Branding Lesson Historically Ferrari has stood for - – extreme performance – Italian craftsmanship – exclusivity – racing heritage – and emotional design when you look at the language on the Luce site it’s clear they want to move away from a number of these. They use words like “spaciousness”, “clarity”, “comfort”, “simplicity”, and “efficiency”. What they don’t say is WHY. Why are they shifting to this focus? This is why the discourse has focused on aesthetics: “I like it”, “I don’t like it” rather than “does this work” or “does this evolution make sense”. (this is classic design crit fuck up 101, when the back and forth contains phrases like “i don’t like this” vs “this doesn’t work because” you’re in a bad crit and haven’t framed the problem well) What they could have said: “for too long, Ferrari performance has come at the cost of comfort. For too long we’ve made beautiful cars that were too complicated to use and maintain. Well that compromise ends today.” With that type of framing many more people would “get it” and be more open to this as a first step towards a new vision for the company...

here's my lil vibe-coding 'aha' moment.. i'm a PM that doesn't ship production code - but i've started building the tools for us to run/scale our app.. they're agentic solutions that i've wired up to our backend and packaged within easy-to-use dashboards. i can now automate & manage so much of our operations that if we ever reach scale with our beta in Toronto, i could turn on and launch other cities with minimal overhead. while my dev builds the product, i'm building the tools to run the company - not sure if this angle is being talked about yet, just wanted to share :)

.@danshipper: "I am super, super bullish on PMs."
Lenny Rachitsky@lennysan

Automation is a lie. CLIs are over. The SaaSpocalypse is dumb. A year ago @danshipper came on the podcast to predict where AI was heading. He was remarkably right—including the call that everyone was sleeping on Claude Code. Dan has a unique lens into where things are going because his team at @every is possibly the most AI-pilled group of people in tech. I always learn a ton talking to Dan. So I brought him back for round two. We'll score these in exactly a year: 🔸 Every company will have one “super-agent” in Slack. 🔸 Codex and Claude Code will become the new operating system for knowledge work. 🔸 The AI job apocalypse is not happening. 🔸 PMs and designers will thrive. 🔸 We will read way more AI-generated writing and we will like it. 🔸 "I would buy SaaS stocks right now." these are both Ferraris.. the brand is more than just the five or six models that people know. the Luce is a modern example of a historic design language. the form, the shape, the lines.. it's well rooted in the heritage of great automotive proportions.. just wait until you see it on a two door. also, the Luce was designed by Flavio Manzoni so chill tf out a lil. Ferrari has not lost its way in terms of design. is it wildly unexpected? sure.. is it a bit silly on price? maybe just a tad.. is it still a Ferrari? wholeheartedly.

it’s weird to say but i’m genuinely about it.. i believe they had to do a mid-size crossover and this shape/those lines are remniscent of Ferrari experimental designs in the 60s & 70s.. i think the two door iterations of this design language is gonna SLAP (and that modern-retro interior is on its own really good 👌)

Y'all are really trying to convince me that the darkhorse Luce isn't a bold, fresh take? With the lowest CdA in Ferrari's history? It's no F50 or Enzo but come on now...

could it be the sex of tomorrow tho..? and Ferrari isn’t all about rage. they’ve always had GT and family type cars in their lineup, and this gorgeous monstrosity falls into that bloodline with a Citroens-of-the-past type shape, and suits the giant crossover car market segment.. it’s crazy to say and i hate that i’m saying it, but the sex you seek is in these lines.. maybe only when they release the two door variants of this design language will it land more. and overall the raging noise of power is now gone. everything has 1,000hp, seats five people and makes no sound.. the game that Ferrari helped pioneer for decades has changed, and this is them showing up to the new game with lines of heritage in a practical package.. again, i think the two door variants will shine

rivers of ink will be spilled about the Luce design but my biggest gripe with it is that it's clearly made by people with no rage in their heart, and no sex in their veins ferrari is about love and anger in a way that wholesome california design bois will never understand

@SawyerMerritt i hate to say it but it's kind of incredibly dope.. i can't recall the exact models, but Ferrari/Maserati/Alfa cars of 1950-60s explored these shapes and lines.. Citroens of the era are also a good example. i hate that i'm saying this, but i can't unsee how dope it might be..

"if it bleeds it leads" .. and nothing bleeds more than every single person with a job. yes, industries will change.. but this narrative is a marketing tool used in media to generate virality and ultimately, revenue. notice how there's not a single media company touting how AI will make for better living conditions 👀

The entrepreneur keeps himself operating on the threshold of excellence because he fears mediocrity. The entrepreneur has learned to dig for facts. The first explanation given does not include all the facts. Once the facts are found, the necessary action is clear. The entrepreneur has a sixth sense of what will work and what will not work – by adjusting experience and knowledge. The entrepreneur tenaciously grasps every opportunity to meet goals using the art of human relations (some say it is a science), the laws of the marketplace, and excellent management of manpower, money, and machines or resources. The entrepreneur knows that he must delegate responsibility, but he never sacrifices his knowledge of the details. The main difference between the entrepreneur and the manager is attitude — Harrison McCain
