@LarryQ6 That lost population is a factor of rents increasing faster than salaries, people are leaving because they can’t afford to live there. A great way to control rental prices is to build a ton of new apartments so people stop bidding up the existing supply.

No really, I’m about to be obsessed with the plans for a lap pool on top of the Marina Safeway that definitely, I’m assured, isn’t going to turn into luxury apartments. What will be the pool occupancy limit be? Is that a good use of space?

@zachware I haven’t, but would love if somebody richer than me would move out of their apartment with only a rooftop as an amenity in favor of the pool so I can upgrade to a rooftop one day.

@phillybfresh @sf_mills It's currently a Safeway in fact. The proposal is a combined 38 stories with little on-site parking, in an already parking-challenged neighborhood. A parking lot will sound pretty good to neighborhood residents if this is built.

@sf_mills @Catasaurrr @otactk85 @phillybfresh This is a very weird standard; I live in a building with a pool that would be wildly overcrowded if everyone used it at once. But most people don't so it is only crowded on weekends when the weather is nice.

@djbcause @sf_mills In the medium term, until we double the power grid capacity, plug in hybrids are the most sensible option to me. In urban areas non-nyc, Waymo makes the most sense. Would never work in the city because the traffic is awful and the drivers are too aggressive.

@sf_mills It clearly is big enough to count as shared space and you keep outing yourself as somebody that doesn’t understand society. Any apartment building with any amenity will never be able to let every resident use that amenity at the same time.
