Thanksgiving is a reminder — not everyone has a warm table to sit at. For many families and unhoused neighbors in Philly, today looks like any other day of struggle. While people celebrate, we’re thinking of those facing hunger, unsafe housing, and a system that continues to fail them. Holidays don’t erase the reality our communities live with year-round. Hold space today for the people who are grieving, surviving, or going without. And if you have the means, extend support — not just today, but every day. #powertothepeople #community #philadelphia

Philly People of Hope has been feeding, protecting, and standing with our neighbors in West Philly and Kensington every single week — no grants, no city contracts, no political backing. Just community power and pure will. So today, we’re launching our official GoFundMe — because the community deserves stability, not struggle. Between a volunteer carrying bins down the street and a van delivering full meals. Between “we’ll try” and “we got you.” gofund.me/ce3189937 #philly #Philadelphia #GoFundMe #MutualAid

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸
I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. The man I supported and helped get elected. Aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type rhetoric being directed at me right now. This time by the President of the United States. As a woman I take threats from men seriously. I now have a small understanding of the fear and pressure the women, who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal, must feel. As a Republican, who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump‘s bills and agenda, his aggression against me which also fuels the venomous nature of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid), this is completely shocking to everyone. My phone is blowing up with constant amazing support. I’m so thankful! The Political Industrial Complex and the toxic violent nature of American politics must end. Our country is worth saving and it can only be done if we pull together and save ourselves.

A “spectacular” tree lighting is nice, but it won’t hide the reality: families are freezing outside, shelters are unsafe, and community groups are doing the work the City refuses to. How is there endless funding for lights, stages, and photo ops — but not for safe housing, fair policies, or basic dignity for the people of Philadelphia? Holiday cheer shouldn’t come at the expense of ignored crises.

Bold plans sound good, but the reality on the ground tells a different story. If the City is creating “safe, quality housing,” then why are so many families still stuck in unsafe shelters with mold, retaliation, and zero accountability? Why are community groups forced to step in where the City refuses to act? And if 30,000 homes are coming, where is the transparency — and the timeline? Philadelphia doesn’t need more announcements. We need results, oversight, and real change that families can actually feel.

The City’s plan to create, preserve, and repair 30,000 homes is bold and unprecedented. Today, Team Parker’s Tiffany Thurman, Angela Brooks, and Jessie Lawrence appeared before City Council to advance our H.O.M.E. initiative. We’re taking steps with @PHLCouncil to bring quality, affordable housing closer to reality because every Philadelphian deserves a safe place to call home.

If this is truly about “opportunity,” then why hasn’t the money gone directly into our schools? Why are Philly teachers still underpaid, classrooms under-resourced, and families left to fill the gaps the City won’t? We see a lot of photo ops — but not enough action. Our kids deserve more than PR. They deserve real investment, real equity, and real accountability.

When we created our Extended Day, Extended Year program, we knew our students needed and deserved more — not just in academics, but in opportunities.    This isn’t just a program — It’s a promise — to close the opportunity gap, support our families, and give every child at our @PHLschools a fair chance.

We want to give a huge thank-you to everyone who stepped up this week. Because of your generosity, we were able to restock some supplies through a Walmart order — and a few amazing people even donated turkeys. In return, we’re giving back the best way we know how — with love, food, and community. Join us for our Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, November 19th from 1 PM to 7 PM at 31 N 60th Street, Philadelphia. Let’s come together, share a meal, and celebrate what community truly means. No one eats alone when we stand together. With gratitude, Philly People of Hope #PhillyPeopleOfHope #CommunityStrong #ThanksgivingDinner #MutualAid #PhillyLove #Gratitude #westphilly #philly #philadelphia #communitypower #communityengagement #powertothepeople #PeoplePower #PeopleOverProfit #thanksgivingdinner #thanksgiving

Understanding How Hunger, Race, and Class Are Weaponized in America Fred Hampton taught us that you can’t fight capitalism with kindness — you fight it with unity, knowledge, and power. And today, the same systems he spoke against are still operating — just wearing new masks. Let’s break it down. Hunger is being weaponized. It’s not about lack of food — it’s about control. The U.S. produces enough food to feed every person multiple times over. Yet millions go hungry because food access is tied to income, zip code, and compliance. Hunger keeps people desperate and dependent — and dependency keeps the system stable. Class is being weaponized. Working-class people are told to blame each other instead of the institutions that exploit them. Low wages, housing insecurity, and medical debt aren’t “bad luck” — they’re engineered to keep wealth flowing upward. Poverty is not a personal failure; it’s an economic strategy. Race is being weaponized. Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities have carried the heaviest burdens of this system — from redlining to mass incarceration to underfunded schools. These aren’t coincidences; they’re the blueprint of structural inequality. As Hampton said: “We’re not fighting capitalism with Black capitalism, we’re fighting it with socialism.” He meant community — shared power, shared resources, and shared accountability. At Philly People of Hope, we’re building that model right now. We’re proving that when the people organize, they don’t just survive — they lead. Food is political. Housing is political. And the only real power is people power. ✊🏽 #FredHampton #PhillyPeopleOfHope #PoliticalEducation #SystemicJustice #AntiRacism #EndHunger #ClassStruggle #PowerToThePeople #CommunityControl #SocialJusticeEducation #America #Philly #Philadelphia

We put out the bat signal — and once again, the community answered! 🦇💪🏽 We just placed a Walmart order with over 400 food items — all going straight to our Food Resource Bank to give out to our West Philly Fam! Every time we call on y’all, you show up. From donations to shares to simple words of encouragement — you’re keeping our shelves full and our neighbors fed. We’re still collecting support to keep this going strong. We still need to get more produce, milk and eggs: 💸 Venmo: @PhillyPeopleOfHope 💵 CashApp: $PhillyPeopleOfHope And if you know any suppliers or community gardens with surplus fruits and veggies, we’d love to partner up. Let’s keep showing what real community looks like. When we move together — the people eat. 💪🏽 #PhillyPeopleOfHope #WestPhilly #FeedThePeople #CommunityStrong #MutualAid #PhillyLove #FoodPantry #EndHunger #PhillyFarms #HopeInAction #PeoplePowerOurPower

We had to close our doors early today due to low supplies — our shelves are nearly empty. We’re urgently calling on our community for help restocking the pantry with non-perishables like: Canned soup Canned meats Pasta Rice …and any other shelf-stable items. Also inviting local community gardens, urban farms & produce suppliers to help donate fresh produce if possible. (Please share and tag gardens/suppliers in the post so they know we need them.) Donate Today: Venmo: @PhillyPeopleOfHope CashApp: $PhillyPeopleOfHope Please share and help us spread the word so we can reopen strong for our neighbors. #WestPhilly #PhiladelphiaCommunity #PhillyPeopleOfHope #PhillyMutualAid #WestPhillyPantry #PhillyStrong #PhillyLove #PhillyVolunteers #FoodJustice #CommunityPantry #FeedTheCommunity #EndHunger #MutualAid #FoodSecurity #PantryRestock #SupportLocalFamilies #CommunityGardens #UrbanFarming #LocalFarmers #PhillyFarms #FreshProduceForAll #GrowForGood #DonateToday #philly
