ngl today's codex outage feels unusually terrible i usually find it so fast i can barely keep up with it now ive been stuck on a task for the last three hours...
1. multiple turns taking an hour and doing the wrong things
2. tried starting a new thread to see if it helps
3. still taking an hour per turn
4. codex app crashes
5. now it's asking me for perms when i have full access on.... wtf happened

@realameerdev Because people sign up for a higher tier later. It’s a stepping stone. But you can’t expect to offer something that allows you to work full-time for $20 a month. There’s too much processing power to pay for.

i don't know if others have noticed, but gpt-5.5 has recently been acting like it has been replaced by a mini model
hopefully, it's just a temporary technical dip
but if not, openai is playing with fire
they've been here before, and last time they took far too long to fix it

@KaiXCreator I’ve been continuously using open AI and just used Claude briefly. I’ve been happy the whole time. As they’ve grown in what they can do, I’ve grown and how I understand how to use it.

Here's what I think:
I think it's both.
With all the recent success they had with the GPT-5.5 and Codex getting better, they have an influx of users which they really can't serve even after preparing for this very situation for a long time
And they could have also nerfed the model because the GPT-5.6 is probably just week/2 weeks away.....so you could feel that magic when they launch it
Either way OpenAI needs to address this or they're just gonna end up like Anthropic and users will go back to using Claude code

Codex continues to degrade in real time. ChatGPT 5.5 is either been nerfed or under compute capacity constraints. Responses are taking forever, it feels like Claude Code all over again. That magic that 5.5 had, has gone. Just me?

@PhiloGroves I’m running 10 hours a day with occasional breaks and I’m at about 75% remaining and I guess there’s about three days left. So I probably will use approximately half of my allotment working more than full-time really about 60 hours a week.

I have a problem with the Codex billing limits: I am not hitting them fast enough. I am always using 1-3 terminals with GPT 5.5 xhigh and never hit the 5-hour limit. The weekly limit resets tomorrow and I have 52% left. And I don't have the attention span for more terminals.

@code_coded No, not at all, it has been great for me. In a way it can kinda be slow, but I find other areas to work on, and I’ll sometimes have some concurrent task going on at the same time. What I have found is the accuracy is great compared to before.

@jturntdev Been building both web apps and phone apps and everything’s going smoothly. Usually when I get stuck, there’s something about my own plan that I need to revise and asking the right questions helps on that tremendously also.

Codex Usage Limits was fine for two days, now cooked. Either， /goals is completely broken and drains usage 2-3x faster. Or their caching has destabilised. Im on 20x and it feels like im on 5x

@rezoundous I’m super happy with the work I have been receiving. It’s life transforming for me. I have not been impacted by the limits at all so far but it’s something I’m keeping an eye out on. But for now I’m not being given a reason to try a different model.

@CarlosBBuild I’m doing the work that my developers previously did for me usually an agent. That includes adding new features, fixing bugs, getting them put in the Apple on Google stores. There’s a human involved here getting help from an agent

GPT5.5 is very impressive and 40% cheaper, limits are higher.
Codex is stellar and taking mindshare of the top devs I know.
Teams I talk to are disillusioned with ROI from soaring Anthropic costs. It’s becoming untenable.
