I read multiple dense academic texts a month, while taking notes.
The idea that reading more than one book in a whole month for pleasure is a unachievable goal is absurdity.
If a book a month is YOUR norm, that’s FINE. Accept that & stop projecting your inferiority complex.

@howlsponyo I feel like if you're speeding through books, like faster than a book a month, you're not reading anything super challenging. Try reading something for teens published before 1950. You should be stopping every few pages to look up words unless that genre is your jam.

@smriiis_reading I like to keep a tally of what I read, in fact I use Goodreads for that purpose but I do find people seem to think reading higher number of books is somehow worthy of adoration

Se subestima mucho la literatura. Desde las neurociencias leer ficción trae muchos beneficios sobre la neuroplasticidad y prevención de demencias. A parte cumple una función totalmente necesaria que incluso Marx practicaba escribiendo novelas: entretener. Es ocio y está bien.

i think it's funny that the only way you guys can cope with others reading books faster than you is by taking sth a small minority has said once and applying it to an entire demographic. 30+ books a year is not an incomprehensible feat you have to discredit at every chance
