I've been writing Java for a quarter of a century. My work is now large-scale modernization and I hope to contribute to the success of Java for another 25. Being acknowledged alongside some of the best Java thinkers is truly a privilege. Thank you! twitter.com/Java_Champions…

I've been streaming more lately!
On a scale of:
1 (painful/cringe)
10 (@starbuxman)
I'm confident that I'm at least a 3, but, I'm trending in the right direction. #everyrepcounts
I need 5 more followers to hit the 200-milestone!

For some reason, I got promoted to L9, received a new title ("Chief Evangelist at @googlecloud"), and welcomed our terrific doc writers into DevRel.
It proves that an excellent team can make almost ANYONE look competent! Thanks to @gabemonroy and many others for their support.

Yesterday, I took my first ever self driving @Waymo ride.
The whole experience was very comfortable, not much different from a regular driver. I never felt at risk "in a machine", it felt like other regular ride sharing apps, which is a good thing.

@immad You're doing it right. They're all lying. If you do it enough your brain will convince you to start lying to everyone too, then eventually you'll believe it.

@dbrtly_ @rseroter I had some time this afternoon and whipped up a quick demo of how to use it github.com/jama22/gcb-bui…
In my tests with a hello world Python app, I shaved ~20 - 30 seconds by enabling a cache image

If you *love* writing Dockerfiles, you're a very special person and we celebrate you.
The other 99.85% of us look for other ways to get the "containerization" step out of the way. Buildpacks are a good option. Our docs have improved lately: cloud.google.com/docs/buildpack…

@rseroter @dbrtly_ 👋 when using buildpacks locally with the pack CLI, first build will be slow but subsequent builds should be a lot quicker. If you're using something like Cloud Build you'll have to explicitly enable artifact caching by writing a short build.yaml to pass `--cache` flag to pack
