Green Party say they plan to ensure everyone has a minimum wage of £31,000pa. I run a business. I don’t earn that. I employ 2 people. They don’t earn that. The business I run doesn’t take in enough to pay that. I’d need to charge customers way more to afford that 🤷‍♂️. Or go bust.

@CallumLyon Try a small business. I'm on my knees and miss the corpo world. This government wants to squeeze every single penny from hard working people. There are no rewards for wanting to be more whether you're in corpo or want to create a business.

In the UK, working hard just gets you more work. You end up doing everyone else’s job with no extra pay or recognition. Then if you ease off, you’re suddenly the problem, not the ones doing nothing. Promotions aren’t earned, they’re just vacancies. And when you finally get one, it’s more responsibility for barely any extra money. Not a career, just exploitation with a better title.

Leftists don’t understand the (very simple) concept of trade-offs. If you hike VAT on private schools, kids leave private schools and place more pressure on the state. If you implement rent controls, you reduce the supply and quality of housing. And if you increase the minimum wage, less businesses hire people. It’s difficult to debate them because they don’t operate in reality. They’re children.

@ItsOnlyBantz As a small business owner in London and also supporting other location based businesses I cannot state the damage it has done to me and my clients. Bollocks as there are other jobs that are also at night. It is their choice and 70k is in a much higher brackets than any Lodoner...

The 4 day week is compressed hours which is the main issue. Shifts can start as early at 3:45am. Even at £70k in London it’s not a liveable salary in zones 1-4. The bigger issue is how we’ve been conditioned to be against them when it’s proof unions WORK.

One of the best periods in my life was when I lived in London and spent my entire paycheck attending the opera. I went to plays, ballets, and concerts while subsisting on canned beans and Tesco ready to eat sandwiches. It was a horrendous financial decision, yet one of the best things I’ve ever done. Those months in London shaped me like no other, and my soul was transformed by the music I encountered. “Man does not live by bread alone", indeed.
