Currently, Polkadot is one of the world's largest DAOs. And the Robo team wants to make your #opengov experience more immersive! During the hackathon, we will encourage dev teams to integrate events such as voting, new treasury requests, epoch changes, and more into a standard smart home system. Do you want to use the color of a smart lamp as an indicator of a proposal passing? Or change the music each time someone proposes new expensive things? I'm sure you do! 😋

Cool moments from Johnny B's presentation: 1/ It often happens that privacy is sacrificed for the sake of security. If we speak in simple terms, then security issues largely concern the question "How to harm a user and steal his or her data?", and issues of privacy in turn — "What data can be stolen from the user and how to use it?" 2/ If the consequences of a security breach are quite easy to explain, the consequences of a privacy breach are more subtle, and the effects often surprise even the violators of privacy themselves. 3/ Privacy protects the subjectivity of the personality from efforts to transform it into a fixed and predictable object. And without this quality, it is difficult to imagine the development of humanity in science, culture, innovations, and technologies. 4/ The link between seller and buyer is broken because corporations become concerned not with the most efficient satisfaction of their customers' needs, but with the best manipulation practices. 5/ Often, an IoT device does not come with a full-fledged control interface, it operates on a "plug and play" mode. But there is a problem with this, as it is easy to forget that the device continues to collect data. 6/ Protecting your devices' data is an important aspect of digital life. Yes, theft or hacking are unpleasant events, but far more destructive can be the subtle manipulation of your life and the base profile created from a small sensor. #RobonomicsSchool2024

Robonomics School 2024 / Part I : IoT is More Dangerous Than AI / Sci-Fi short story by @EnsRationis robonomics.academy/en/learn/schoo… Summarize: The consolidation of public spaces, transport, and city apartments under centralized control increases the risk of harm in scenarios where AI, due to underdevelopment, malice, or complex goal-setting, has access to numerous sensors and automation systems. A good AI, even if limited in its connection to the global IoT, could still be effective, as evidenced by the success of human cooperation in creating complex systems like satellite internet.

The trajectory of Robonomics development in 2024 I've gathered the initiatives I know about for the development of Robonomics in 2024. IoT Cloud Infrastructure: (1) Freemium on Kusama. Robonomics will allow you to connect your smart home to the cloud on Kusama for free. (2) Paid subscriptions on Polkadot. For those who need bank-level protection of their smart home, as well as for small businesses and scenarios of combining Robonomics with other parachains via XCM channels. (3) Experimental App-specific L2 chain on Ethereum. Our first attempt to revive the development on Ethereum since 2019. An alpha version to provide cloud functions for one specific smart home device. Devices: (4) Crosschain smart home controller, capable of connecting to Polkadot or Ethereum at the user's choice. Details are yet to be disclosed. (5) A range of clothing for digital nomads with wearable devices. (6) A full range of wifi compatible smart home devices. Existing smart home devices will form a complete range by roughly the end of May. Robotics: (7) The first demonstrations of Robonomics as a transport layer for the long-awaited second version of the popular robotics framework ROS. (8) An online laboratory for working with known models of ROS 2 robots Integration. (9) Applying Robonomics for safe remote deployment of robot software. Integrations: (10) Expansion of the experiment with a civilian sensory network. (11) With the help of integrator Pinout, connecting new residential apartment buildings in Cyprus to the Robonomics cloud. (12) The first network states object in Bali as part of the G.E.C.K. project. (13) Launching a program to support game developers to connect in-game signals to the gamer's smart home. Tokenomics: (14) Application of the native Ethereum <> Polkadot bridge for linking XRT in two ecosystems. (15) Burning 7 million XRT. (16) Supporting a deflationary token model in 2024. (17) Adapting XRT to changes in Polkadot (blockspace payments).

31 years ago the Cypherpunk manifesto was published. I wrote this manifesto with great concern that we are losing the principles that brought us here. This is an attempt to reunite. To refocus on what is really important. Let's get back to the roots. @pcaversaccio/the-ethereum-cypherpunk-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">hackmd.io/@pcaversaccio/…

🔦✨ Spotlight on: Staking - Part 1 Staking is the process of committing digital assets to PoS networks like Polkadot. It's crucial for the network's security and integrity. Here's everything you need to know about staking on Polkadot 👇 First, don't forget to bookmark this post to save it as a reference ✅ ❔ Why Staking is Important By ensuring that validators have a stake in the network's success, PoS incentivizes honest behavior, deters malicious actions, promotes decentralization, and ensures continuous operation. 🔍 Terms You Should Know Polkadot uses a Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) system involving nominators and validators: 🔹 Nominators: As a staker, you become a nominator. Nominators appoint their stake to validators, electing the active set and sharing in rewards. They ensure network security by choosing trustworthy validators. 🔹 Validators verify transactions and maintain the network's integrity. To actively produce blocks, validators must have a substantial amount of DOT staked. Selected by nominators, they earn additional DOT for good performance. However, if they engage in malicious actions, both their own and their nominators' stakes may be slashed. ⚖️ Ideal Staking Rate To balance security and liquidity, Polkadot aims for 45% to 75% of all DOT tokens to be staked, with an ideal equilibrium at 59%. The current amount of DOT staked is ~56% with an average reward rate of 16.6%. If staking rates fall below the ideal rate, rewards increase to encourage more staking. Conversely, if staking rates exceed the ideal, rewards decrease, balancing security needs with token liquidity. 💡 Understanding Inflation and Staking Polkadot has a 10% annual inflation rate. This mechanism provides the necessary funds to reward network participants for their roles in securing and maintaining the network. 🔹 Distribution: 80% of inflation goes to stakers and 20% to the treasury. 🔹 The treasury uses funds for ecosystem development, supporting projects that enhance the network. At the end of each spend period 1% of the available treasury funds are burned. Follow @polkadot and stay tuned for Spotlight on Staking - Part 2 "How to Stake on Polkadot"
