#NowSpinning this sumptuous but oddly soft-centred and un-impactful version of the SS Organ Symphony. Recorded in 1980, it appears to have been the conductor’s only Telarc effort and one of his very few digital recordings. Even the piano barely registers in the finale. Strange!

@Brick_Cop @ukhomeoffice GMP will be just fine. In the 90s they had a large centralised firearms dept & many Specialist Firearms Officers. They also had to cope with a large gang war that earned the city the name of Gunchester.

The other notable difference for the Policing Operation at Number 10 North is that GMP don’t have AFOs, only ARV and Specialist Officers. For the uninitiated, AFOs (Authorised Firearms Officers) make up PaDP (Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection), RaSP (Royalty and Specialist Protection) and SO18 (Aviation Policing) in The Met completing a five week course. They carry both a rifle and sidearm and are trained in foot based tactics to defend specific sites and persons. For example Downing Street, Buckingham Palace and Heathrow Airport. MO19 however is made up of ARV (Armed Response Vehicle) Officers who pass a much harder 12 week course (including vehicle tactics hence the name). 19 also compromises CTSFOs (Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers) whose training takes months and compromise standby and deployable Immediate Response Teams for high risk situations. The Met has evolved this way to meet the demand of all of the different types of armed Policing the capital requires. GMP only has ARV Officers (and some CTSFOs) to fulfil a role that would normally be undertaken by an AFO and as such, deploying ARV Officers in an AFO role is either removing an ARV from patrol in Manchester or costing a lot in overtime at Number 10 North to fulfil the armed Policing requirement. It’ll be interesting to see how and if this changes as these meetings no doubt become more common place. #ThinBlueLine 🚨
