@CartoonsHateHer @credenzaclear2 Gonna take it a step further and say what no one else is brave enough to: men don’t need a job or an education when they’re hot. You don’t need to know how to read if you’re sexy. The rest of you? Hit the books or the oil rig.

Are funding libraries an important issue in the modern day or just a waste of money? With almost all information and books available online why would Mamdani fund somewhere that has less and less modern value? Is it still important to keep these old fashion centre of informations alive? If so why?

I hate when people at work ask you what books you are reading for professional development. I am reading books to counteract the effects of being professionally developed. I am reading books that bring me back to being human.

@notjustbtstras1 As for Katara, I feel like it implies that she’s ok enabling that, which is in line the show. She’s shown as an empathetic character with difficulties around rationalizing bad behavior, and sometimes she’s successful (Jett), and sometimes she’s not (water scroll).

@notjustbtstras1 It is a form of eugenics and I think it’s a very real character flaw for a survivor of genocide to rationalize to themselves. Avatar happened when Aang was 12 and Katara was 14. People grow up to have traits their younger selves wouldn’t be proud of.

"What's wrong with Katara being pregnant" The movie revolves around Aangs desire to revive airbending and he couldn't get what he wanted in the end and then a year later Katara is pregnant. It sends the message that he only had kids to revive his culture causing issues in TLOK
🤍Cult Designer🤍@notjustbtstras1

The Avatar movie actually doubled down on making Katara a booktok girlfriend. During the final battle she literally tells Aang that "this isn't you" and the movie ends with her being "very pregnant" as per the script. Holy character assassination

@ThorHeyerdahl14 @HazelAppleyard What if someone thinks you’re a bad man? Do they get to murder you? Because we’re not saying bad women rape and murder. We’re saying they fleece men of their livelihoods, which is bad. If an ex of yours said you used her for her labor, your logic dictates that you should die.

@polytechnique22 @HazelAppleyard Decent men should be allowed to murder the bad ones on the courthouse lawn. The same women complaining about bad men are the ones voting to reduce jail sentences.

@HazelAppleyard Smart man. He’s probably seen men in his life get absolutely wrecked in a divorce more than once. Looks like decent women are gonna have to pay the price for the divorce happy ones. Too bad.

@_nomadic_soul I would say loyalty and responsibility but women have no concept of either so the entire premise of your original question is pointless to begin with.

@ForgedAutonomy @mattyglesias Ironic ass reply. The grammar in this reply is atrocious and overall, the reply doesn’t address the point of the article, which is that people can’t read. Bias doesn’t sap one of their ability to read. You’re also not replying to the content of the article. You can’t read.

@mattyglesias But if the Times is so fuckin bias that they misinformed their readers that drops them below a 6th grade level. Repeating lies is worse than not understanding the full context of what’s written.

@dietrichBonh @HazelAppleyard If he’s worried about her health why would his punishment be to subject her to the thing he tried to tell her to stay away from? To make someone suffer to prove a point shows that you care more about the point than the person, which is morally deficient behavior.

Let’s steel man him for a second. He says it’s too cold and wife disagrees. To the husband he probably feels it’s too cold outside for his family. I think that comes from a place of genuine concern. He thought he’d teach her to take his concerns more seriously(even op admits she brushed him off). I’m not saying he’s right I’m saying that was probably his thought process. Wife was wrong for dismissing him but that in no way makes lockijg them out ok. OP says he’s not abusive and has never done anything like this. No pattern. It seems like he just wanted her to take his concerns more seriously but went about it in a very wrong way.
