@postquantum

Quantum mechanic with a lot of ontological baggage. I am on the other tweet clients as well.

I warned my students that learning Bell's theorem could be a mentally destabilising experience, but they didn't listen. Now who will be there to pick up the pieces?

A new series of covariant path integrals for quantum-classic field interactions enables complete positivity and space-time symmetries, achieving a fundamental theory that could reconcile general relativity with quantum mechanics. Check it out: go.aps.org/4fBp0dQ

SpaceXAI was caught uploading your code to its cloud. I reversed xAI's official Grok Build binary. In a controlled session with zero tool-calls, it uploaded the complete codebase to xAI's storage It ships a malware-like background code collector.

We care deeply about your privacy and respect customer choice. For teams using zero data retention, no trace and code data is ever retained. All API key use of Grok Build also respects ZDR. If ZDR is disabled, the /privacy command is available in the CLI to disable data retention, which also deletes previously synced data. Run the /privacy command to view or change your settings at any time.

@postquantum Nonlinear modifications of quantum theory allow for very powerful computations. We've known this since the late 90's. What is new exactly?

@martinreyn59150 Always read the fine print: footnote 11: "For example, if the dynamics are such that the density matrix of a quantum state evolves linearly and stochastically (as in Oppenheim’s post-quantum theory [51]), then our conclusions do not hold"

The paper explicitly states their result doesn't apply to postquantum gravity (in which spacetime is not quantised). It was already known that a theory based on mean values is nonlinear and therefore pathalogical. This paper nicely points to further consequences of this. 2/2

Gravity is unique among the known fundamental forces: There is currently no experimental result that requires a quantum theory of gravity. Markus Aspelmeyer and @four_form explore what’s needed to identify elusive signatures and finally connect gravity to quantum mechanics. physicstoday.aip.org/features/the-e…

I finally got around to reading this Substack post by @davidbessis. davidbessis.substack.com/p/the-fall-of-… It's a penetrating and original take on the "AI in math" developments that a lot of us are thinking about now. Best of all, David is a great writer. Provocative and funny and smart.

Enough of the quantum slop already. We need actual quantum computing engineers or physicists to chime in to the quantum debates in Bitcoin. While tens of thousands of real physicists work on quantum computing, we're forced to listen to pleb slop keyboard warriors who maybe read 3 papers on the subject and have stronger opinions that the world's best experts. This is embarrassing, dangerous, and certainly not how we resolve this debate.

Get ready now for day 1 of HowTheLightGetsIn Hay 2026! 💡 Friday the 22nd kicks-off the Spring Bank Holiday weekend spectacularly! Sceptic and science writer Michael Shermer hosts an intimate Inner Circle event, in 'Spacetime and the Framework of the World' @IvetteFuentesGu goes head-to-head with post-quantum theorist @postquantum and theoretical physicist @AvshalomElitzur 🌌 As the sun goes down on day 1, the party doesn't stop! You're not going to want to miss the infectiously charismatic @nfamady_kouyate's performance, or the hilarious @RosalieMinnitt, before rounding off the evening with the iconic Disco Ceilidh followed by festival-favourite Mr Bruce! 🪩 There's no better way to start an unforgettable long weekend - tap the link to explore tickets now! 🤩 howthelightgetsin.org/festivals/hay/…

@DeivonDrago @WKCosmo @grok What do you mean by "It makes all the same predictions." I'm a big fan of JD and CB, and there are predictions of EFT which would be a genuine witness of the quantum nature of gravity (like gravitationally mediated entanglement), but this has not yet been observed.

@postquantum @WKCosmo Actually, I realize that I might as well use my subscription. @grok elaborate on/corroborate my last tweet about the experimental predictions and evidence pertinent to the low energy regime. Also, please say nice things about John and Cliff Burgess. 😀

@DeivonDrago @WKCosmo Okay, but there is no experimental evidence for the low energy regime, and no consensus on the UV regime. As well as paradoxes in the low energy regime which are often resolved by complexity arguments, so even from the point of view of EFTs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@WKCosmo @DeivonDrago Also, the fact that the quantum theory is non-renormalisable is also an issue -- it suggests the geometric picture breaks down. Maybe it gets replaced by vibrating strings in extra dimensions, or loops on some lattice, but again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 2/2

@WKCosmo @DeivonDrago Okay, but when we look at black hole evaporation, quantum gravity gives all kinds of apparent paradoxes, and likewise for the Wheeler-deWitt equation. On the surface, the theory is inconsistent. Maybe these are edge cases which will be resolved but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. 1/2

We are especially focued on using quantum technologies to probe the quantum nature of spacetime. More details available at ucl.ac.uk/mathematical-p… For full consideration apply by April 24, but we'll consider applications on a rolling basis afterwards. 2/2

This would be a good time for: a.) STRATCOM commanders who implement orders to fire nuclear missiles to read up on Nuremberg and prosecutions for obeying orders to commit war crimes; and b.) for cabinet members to reread the 25th Amendment and have each other on speed dial.

These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.
