Are we heading towards the same cruelty we criticize? Is this the future we want for India? Violence against voiceless animals is not our culture—it’s a failure of humanity. #AnimalCruelty #Pakistan

A group of city based animal lovers gathered at Freedom Park to protest against the illegal and inhumane capture of community dogs from the DRDO Phase 2 campus in Kaggadasapura. The demonstration, led by the CV Raman Nagar Animal Squad, brought together residents, animal welfare groups, legal experts and volunteers from across the city, united in demanding accountability and adherence to law and science. The protest follows a shocking incident on March 5, when residents intercepted a truck inside the DRDO campus and discovered three dogs with their legs and mouths bound, stuffed into plastic bags and gunny sacks. The stray dogs were rescued just in time, but more than 20 others living peacefully on the campus were found missing. The GBA has since lodged an FIR at Mahadevapura Police Station, and the case is now before the High Court, with the next hearing scheduled for April 16. The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with animal welfare advocates warning that it reflects a dangerous misuse of Supreme Court directions issued last year on the removal of street dogs from public spaces. They argue that such misapplication has led to escalating cruelty and institutional impunity. Actor and politician Ramya (DivyaSpandana) broke down while addressing the gathering, visibly shaken by the cruelty inflicted on the dogs. “I don’t know how anyone can watch those videos. It makes my blood boil. Institutions we trust must act responsibly. If the dogs are safe, show us proof. If not, those responsible must face strict punishment,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion Veteran animal welfare leader Priya Chetty Rajagopal underscored Bengaluru’s strong animal welfare network, noting that more than 60 canine squads and aid groups have sterilized and vaccinated thousands of dogs over the past decade. “We work in tandem with GBA and NGOs to take care of street animals. When institutions act unlawfully and cruelly, we will not keep quiet. We will fight for justice,” she declared. Protesters demanded immediate disclosure of the whereabouts of the missing dogs, accountability for those responsible, strict enforcement of Animal Birth Control rules and institutional collaboration with citizen groups and experts. They called for humane,science-based, long-term solutions to address human-animal conflict.

A Tata Power meter reader is repeatedly attacking street dogs in my lane. When I objected, he threatened me saying ‘I will hit them again, do whatever you can’ and even said he would dump all Bhubaneswar’s dogs outside my house. I have photo & video evidence but chose not to post it publicly because I don’t want him to be in trouble. I even informed him that animal cruelty has serious legal consequences. Even said that I will meet Ex Engineer in this regard. But he had no regret or fear. Despite this, he continued to misbehave and spoke disrespectfully. I am older than him , a cancer patient and could file an FIR, but I believe he may not be aware of the animal abuse laws. I request @TataPower @TPCentralOdisha to educate and strictly instruct your meter reading staff. Self-defense is understandable, but hurting harmless street dogs is unacceptable. #AnimalCruelty #Bhubaneswar #SpeakForVoiceless

@theflyinggaruda @LearnerSpeaks @aayeshavarma Yeah yeah I know the hypocrisy. Again, the animal doesn’t want to stay in cage or get exploited. Just let them live in the jungle and isolate yourselves. Who gives humans the right to capture any animal? Just because they have some intelligence which doesn’t matter anywhere?

Extremely strange, these dogs are sterilised. They have every right to return to their territory.

@theflyinggaruda @LearnerSpeaks @aayeshavarma Okay now a change of tone. 👏 But which animal are you letting live? You are impregnating them forcefully and killing them for your taste. What you do is exploitation. Work them till they can’t bear any more and let them die on the street. You can keeping to them in cages.

@pratims10 @LearnerSpeaks @aayeshavarma We get to decide which animal lives among us and which doesn't. Any species which doesn't have the ability or intent in harming or even annoying humans, and any animal useful to humans both can live in cities and towns (human settlements) among humans.

@theflyinggaruda @LearnerSpeaks @aayeshavarma Perfect. So the idea is to isolate humans from other species. So why are there horses & mules carrying burden in these settlements? Why people in these settlements buy meat of various species, impregnate chickens for eggs, exploit cows for milk? Isn’t it supposed to be isolated.

@ChazSaldanha @royalryders @timesofindia Oh wow. I got to have some followers and pay X some amount to be able to comment here. Why is X allowing me to comment without having verified my profile? Are you some X agent trying to force people to pay them? I would like to know how much commission they offer.

Twelve community dogs, including a lactating mother and puppies, were illegally captured and relocated from Omaxe Society, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, by Naresh Kumar of BK Monkey Catching Company on the instructions of manager Vikram Yadav from Shanvi Management. The puppy was allegedly beaten and left paralysed after a heavy metal cage was thrown onto him. Nine dogs, including the injured puppy, were later found 35 km away. 💔 Did you know? Rule 11(19) of the ABC Rules, 2023 allows capturing community dogs only for sterilisation and vaccination, relocation of community animals is illegal. PETA India commends Shri Jai Bhagwan, Sub Inspector and in charge of Sector 6 Police Station, for registering the FIR, and urges authorities to implement humane animal birth control as required by law to reduce human-animal conflict, while encouraging the public to report cruelty cases. @police_haryana For details: petain.vg/bhc. #AnimalWelfare #AnimalRights #SaveIndianDogs #IndieDogs #PETAIndia

@theflyinggaruda @LearnerSpeaks @aayeshavarma Human settlement? Just to be wiped out by a meteor like dinosaurs or get buried under earth like numerous civilizations before us? You really think we can claim nature? You seem quite narrow minded and possibly never thought of this. Take some time out of your day and think.
