I haven’t had much luck birding recently, but it finally feels like spring is here. Here’s a blue tit in some wonderful afternoon light. #Sony #α1II #SEL600f40GM

@rem0te_jet It’s likely! Robins are territorial, and warm to you if you see them often enough.

@Brians_birds 😅😅 I am biased but Sony has been great so far! I haven’t given the 1.4x a real go but I always find using teleconverters just takes that magic edge off using a prime. I have the. 400-800 lens too so I think if I really need reach I’ll just use that instead

@prekesh I have a 1.4 tele-converter and not a fan. The 600 and 300 combo seems a good one for me for now. This lens does make me wonder about switching to Sony though! Probably a bit extreme for one lens but those extra 5 megapixels of the a1 are noticeable in picture quality also so...!

I took delivery of a used Canon EF 300mm f2.8 lens today and took it for a whirl at St James' park this afternoon. I got it for diving Gannets and certain birds in flight and it feels so light compared to my big 600. This is one of the park's resident Pelicans - so far so good!

@Brians_birds Yeah I’ve tried the 300 2.8 from Sony and it is magical. It’s so light it feels like a toy 😅 I fear it would mean I never take my 600 out and just use teleconverters

@prekesh You're a Sony user right? The Sony 300 is a full kilo lighter than this! Probs better image quality too

If you know me, you know RodentDraw was the first iPhone app I developed. It debuted soon after the App Store over 15 years ago, and eventually became obsolete.

@ilyamiskov I’m still enjoying it now, but back then you could have a lot of fun in the UI. I get to design icons/illustrations outside of UI now and it’s a lot of fun. Then again I’m mostly using blender now too
