Outro ponto do qual me lembrei agora: o investimento inicial de R$ 250 mil na Baccio di Latte é absolutamente implausível. O detalhe fundamental: o ponto comercial. Explico:
Exatamente em 2011, eu estava montando uma marca de vestuário esportivo com um sócio. O valor total que tínhamos para investir no negócio estava em torno disto. Nosso sonho era ter uma loja de rua. Mas somente a formação de estoque inicial já consumiu boa parte disto. E um detalhe fundamental: 2011 era um ano no qual o Brasil estava bombando - incluindo aí o comércio. Era quase impossível achar um ponto comercial disponível. Quando tinha, demandava pagar luvas num valor altíssimo (não cheguei a consultar a valorizadíssima e disputada Oscar Freire, mas em outros bairros eram centenas de milhares de reais).
Então fica evidente que R$ 250 mil (em valores de então) eram insuficientes para montar um negócio destes pelo simples detalhe que o ponto comercial sozinho já demandaria muito mais que isto.

Controle importa mais do que velocidade. E, às vezes, apostar tudo em qualidade é o melhor atalho. Eduardo e Luigi provaram que um produto bem feito, repetido com disciplina, pode virar um gigante. Mesmo começando com um carro vendido — e uma loja de 30 metros quadrados.

Calling LLMs automation is a stretch of the term, even if they could produce high quality code.
Historically, automation actually meant removing degrees of freedom, encoding invariants into machines, and eliminating room for errors. In software, Assembly to C removed register bookkeeping. Type systems removed whole classes of runtime errors. Compilers enforced semantics mechanically. You did less thinking because "the machine guaranteed more". LLMs are not "just a further abstraction level".
LLMs do the opposite. They add degrees of freedom, produce outputs with no enforceable invariants, and expand the space of "plausibly-working" wrong programs. That is not what we have historically meant by automation.
But the deeper problem with the "automating programming is good" argument is that it ignores why people program in the first place. It frames programming as an unpleasant bottleneck on the way to a desired result that should be minimized or eliminated. For every great programmer I've ever met, that mindset empties the activity of meaning.
Programming is not merely a way to obtain software or to produce a string that a compiler will accept. It is an intellectual craft where reasoning, constraint navigation, and deliberate tradeoffs are the point. Treating it as friction to be automated away misunderstands both the work and the reason people are drawn to it.

I respect this guy and his skills, but this take is just sad. I won't really argue, believe in whatever makes you happy, but history will prove you wrong. automation is the source of most great things we have as a species, and that will still hold for the automation of coding
