@KarinLitzcke I think most public sector unions would reject that assertion. In any case, the unions that endorsed Ashton were a mix of private and public.

The unions that endorsed Rob Ashton for #NDP leader collectively represent 659,200 members. Ashton received 4,193 votes. That means fewer than 0.7% of members from endorsing unions joined the party and voted for him. #cdnpoli #canlab

@xghostnotesx @Prof_Savage It can't all be chalked up to this, but the Palestine thing was huge. Over and over again he shied away from and opposed overwhelmingly Union supported policy on Palestine and BDS. And, while doing so, could not and would not explain why.

@Dock_Currie Maybe, but none of the unions that endorsed Ashton pulled their endorsements as a result of 1 or 2. The unions' endorsements convinced fewer than 1 in 100 members to support his campaign. By any measure, that's a complete failure.

@Prof_Savage With respect, Professor Savage, there is also (1) Rob seriously failed to be able to extemporaneously explain and defend his ideas (even admitting using ChatGPT); and (2) his concerted distancing himself from Union-led BDS and Palestine positions alienated many union people.
