“why are emotions so illogical?” emotions *are* logical you’re just bad at logic

The most successful people seem to have this inexplicable magic - a mysterious inner knowing that guides their biggest decisions. I couldn't understand it until faced with my crossroads. What I discovered changed everything I thought I knew about intuition...🧵"

Guy BOOK IS LIVE! || CHECK BIO
This, from Eckart Tolle, seems not only true but understated: the "thinker" strikes me as pretty crazy/schizophrenic

A founder's journey is probably about being able to manage one's emotions much more than anything else. After going through many pivots, we finally have an idea with a much stronger conviction and good early pilot conversations. 1/n

In a major milestone for science, for medicine, and for patients, the world’s first CRISPR drug has been approved in the UK. “A new treatment for sickle-cell disease and transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia has been authorised by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for patients aged 12 and over after a rigorous assessment of its safety, quality and effectiveness.” Congratulations to the many scientists, doctors, patients, and industry leaders who made this development possible.🍻 gov.uk/government/new…

Does anyone actually fill out Typeform surveys? I just bail by default, nobody has time for the survey that never seems to end and doesn’t work with autofill. Like I don’t need 3 screens to give you my first name, last name, and email address how is that better

Systems you should never build yourself when bootstrapping a SaaS: Authentication, Payment, Invoices, Tax Calculations. Bite the bullet and pay others, it will save you so much pain in the end. Wrap them in abstractions to change them later. But never build them yourself.

Has anyone used Amazon Pinpoint for targeting push notifications? Does it actually work as well as they claim?

The prototypical midwit is Jerry from Rick and Morty. What makes him a midwit (unlike eg Morty) is not the mediocrity of his intellect, but the self inflicted paralysis of his capacity for self modeling, which turns him into a fully predictable social automaton

If you think of yourself as a midwit, you are probably not a midwit. Midwittism is not about incompetence (being confronted with our own incompetence is a universal part of the human experience), but about poking out your own eyes to avoid self awareness

Exowombism is similar to many statebuilding insects, but could not evolve for large organisms instead of mammals, because guarding, feeding and administering the vulnerable womb organism for maximizing adaptation requires general intelligence. Exowombists outperform mammals.

The next stage of evolutionary complexity after mammals would probably have been (hermaphroditic but multimorphic) exowombists, where individuals can lay a seed that grows into an arbitrarily large sessile womb organism requiring external feeding, and others fertilize it.
