@WVPitt Most likely they would have been assimilated into the PCUSA in the 1958 merger. The UPC's were outnumbered around 10 to 1. Adding in the ARP wouldn't have changed the ratio that much.

A great "what if" in my mind as an ARP is what would have been the future if proposed merger of northern/Midwest UPCNA and southern ARP in 1904 or 1951 had taken. Didn't happen in 1904 because of "regional differences" or 1951 because of ARP's concern about liberalism in UPCNA.

Judith Wallerstein pointed this out in 2001. We didn't believe her, but it's true: divorce makes kids worse off in the long-run. The other main finding from her research is that we don't see effects of divorce on children until they hit their 20s.

@Rural_KS_Pastor I think most would recognize that the pope is an antichrist (i.e. false teacher, 1 John) but not necessarily THE Antichrist. The shift away from historicist interpretation and a growing influence of secularism probably widened the view of possible candidates for THE Antichrist.

So does a PCA or OPC officer who subscribes without exception to his denominations version (the American version) implicitly reject the view that the Pope is Antichrist?

@PastrBlastr1 @dfriederichsen I'd be in favor of a delegated assembly but that could make presbytery delegate elections contentious.

@dfriederichsen I was on Admin CoC, we had lengthy discussion re: the increased commiss. fees. The Admin committee is very financially exposed by every GA because of how big it is. I think we may have to seriously consider a delegated assembly. It may take a massive loss on one to wake us to it.

PCA Inside Baseball: It seems to me that much of the discussion about reorganizing how we do GA is borne out of a desire for those who have lost power to recoup power and those who have gained to power to get more. Maybe just leave it the way it is?
