@MugaluNathan many young people can barely afford rent, let alone the money a child needs to thrive not just to survive. People should birth when they are ready for the responsibility. We need to address the hesistancy to child rearing starting with the impossible cost of living.

@nbstv Imagine Uganda as a peaceful village surrounded by a strong fence named "Uganda’s Sovereignty." Foreign troublemakers try to sneak in, but a wise elder with a "Protection Law" shield stops them. The bill aims to keep Uganda safe from harmful foreign interference. #SovereigntyBill

@DrGarvin1 @faith_nabushawo It's not about you're feelings on my character but what's actually best for the patient? And again I will ask doctor, how many women actually regret sterilisation?

I can’t believe this is coming from you. At this point, I’m left wondering. Do you actually let your patients exercise real informed consent, or do you twist their decisions until they align with what you personally like? Now if this got you saying this, what will you do to those with DNR orders or refusing other treatments when you think that they are life saving? As a doctor, your role is to give the client correct, complete information without holding anything back. Tell them everything, the side effects, the success rates, the failure risks, the available reversible and non permanent options, the potential repercussions of their choices (including regret, future fertility issues, surgical complications), the alternatives like condoms, IUDs, hormonal methods, natural family planning, etc and then leave the patient to choose. Informed consent is not about you agreeing with the decision. It’s not about shaming patients as “whoeing” or comparing responsible adults choosing sterilization to gender surgeries. It’s about respecting their autonomy after they’ve been fully informed. I would be mad if she said she wasnt told everything or was coerced to do the BTL. So please, just leave people to be. Their bodies, their informed choices, their lives. Not yours to police, moralize, or shame. Do better, Doctor.
Dr. Sserunjogi Emma@DrSerunjogiEmma

I can't imagine how much whoeing someone would be going through to make them decide at 25yrs of age that the best family planning method is cutting their tubes or vasectomy at 25yrs!!! What sexual wars are you planning on fighting?? Can't you use a condom, copper IUD, hormonal IUD, emergency, abstaining, how much horny do are you that you cannot use a condom during unsafe days and have live sex during safe days! There are so many ways that you can opt not to have children while having sex unless you're getting battle ready. Society is so dead that when a man marries a woman who is 23yrs, they say he's a sexual predator, going for naive, emotional girls who cannot judge right and wrong, same girl at that age decides to cut her tubes and suddenly now the entire society praises her that she's emotionally mature, she makes perfect decisions... Nonsense y'all. As a doctor, how much greedy are you to cut tubes of such a girl or boy... No different from those who change sex for children through surgery just because they think they're boys trapped in a girl's body.

Dear Ugandans, if you truly love your country, raise your voice against this fake bill. To those who have not yet read it and would like to understand why we oppose it, kindly DM me for a soft copy of the bill. Your voice matters. If we remain silent, we risk speeding down a dangerous path toward oppression or even slavery

To the UPE graduates The Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026. Simple meaning: This bill is about protecting Uganda’s independence and control over its own country. In very simple English: It is a proposed law to make sure Uganda makes its own decisions It tries to limit or control foreign influence (from other countries, NGOs, or organizations) It aims to protect national interests, security, and authority

@simaba2020 Let's also address the poor medical seeking behaviour of men.. I am convinced many men come because their wives have nagged them. But almost all hospital available cater to men's needs aside from the few specialised ones mentioned.

I see a lot of hospitals labeling themselves , women , children specialized , I have never seen anyone catering for men, is it that men don’t get sick or they do not need specialized hospitals. Hospital owners or Drs I need answers.

@faith_nabushawo @DrGarvin1 And are we to ignore the 85% chance that she won't regret for the 15% that she will ? I think this is where we should start the conversation from. Younger people are likely to regret but they don't even make 30%.

@prudencePatri15 @DrGarvin1 Very important. What if she doesn’t regret? And btw according to a 2024 Canadian survey only 15.9% regret. What is the chance that she will be among the 15%? I think according to this more women never regret. So bro should chill our sister. 😁

This whole informed consent thing is overblown, as doctors we dont just offer options, we also give guidance, doctors are not robots! I wouldnt sterilise anyone in their 20s regardless of "consent" because I know that people change their minds as they grow and shouldn't be doing permanent things at an early age when temporary options exist, that's guidance!

It is estimated that at least 22% of Ugandan adolescents have sexual intercourse, 60% of them being girls by the age of 18. While sexual violence is prevalent, teenagers also having sex with each other. Hiding behind religion + morality doesn't change this. #WhatWillYouDo

@ImaniMulungi @amwaafrika But when sex education was suggested for school going kids ,the country in an uproar claiming they wanted to spoil their children. Parents prefer willful ignorance than protecting their children. Many people never received any sex education from parents or anywhere else.

@Pliam_ @Pliam_, look even in the U.S., where healthcare systems are highly advanced, more people died compared to Uganda, where facilities are more limited. It shows that having strong health infrastructure is one thing, and mortality outcomes are another.

True autonomy requires that a patient understands what they are choosing. A professional’s duty, my duty you know as a doctor is not passive agreement, it’s never just nodding in agreement for goodness sake 😏 but active guidance through evidence l share data, risks, benefits, alternatives, and consequences so the decision is genuinely informed. I’m a highly skilled, highly educated professional. Of course, this is a complex issue. Respect for autonomy alone is not enough. I provide extensive education about every option, including those with greater risks and those with lesser risks, together with the serious consequences associated with each choice. It is called informed consent for a reason. Give women a break for goodness sake. Enough is enough!!
Wagnignan, Bwire@B_wire9393
