@Draft_FC 50 pts off the leader in a 9 team classic league. Thinking of dropping Rodri for the week to get a full XI, with Summerville (if fit), Fernandes, McNeil, and Bobb as my main considerations. wdyt?

Twitter, I need your help. My grandmother is an avid bridge player and I know nothing about the game. Please point me to some good resources so I can learn how to play it before I see her next!

Just a general shout to everyone - big thanks for all the support again in what has been a difficult summer for draft FPL! For those who have messaged etc there is virtually no chance I’m going to be able to respond before the GW1 deadline as I’m busy as work. I’ll try to catch up later.

Draft done Very happy with the first couple of picks, mids a bit iffy but overall good. Some wilds picks but mostly very solid drafting from the gang. Viktor got a great team imo Who do you think won the draft?

@Draft_FC Tom’s team is the pick of the bunch for me. Jack was off to a good start, but has some cleanup to do on the waivers

@SnakeDraftFPL This one feels dodgy to me - you potentially have only 2 starting MIDs and 1 starting FWD

Draft number four - strange draft. Every round the value to skip the best available forward was too big to turn down… With a couple of decent trades this could be a belter.

@RobertMSterling 100% this, though I think the implicit cost has increased over the past couple of years. It used to feel like there were a LOT of remote-friendly opportunities, but it is definitely reverting to a more niche status

Out of all the insufferable debates in the history of miserable Twitter arguments, the reoccurring debate about offices vs. working from home is by far the worst. Here’s the truth: There’s nothing wrong with preferring to work from home. But you're going to pay for it. Corporate managers simply prefer to have their employees working on-site. You can say they’re wrong for doing so—you can cite all the Harvard Business School studies you can find about how productivity levels are just as high in a home office as they are in a suburban cubicle farm—but your arguments are irrelevant at best, masturbatory at worst. What matters is that, in the marketplace for white-collar labor, employers almost always have more leverage than do employees and candidates (Covid/ZIRP-mania notwithstanding), and the expectation that most employers of accountants/engineers/middle-manager have is that these people will show up to the office every day. Do I blame employees for preferring not to go into an office? Of course not. Commuting into a corporate office five days a week—forgoing countless hours with your family, just to drink coffee from an office Keurig and shit in a bathroom stall next to Bill from accounting, the number-one customer at the Panda Express down the street—makes for a miserable lifestyle. I refuse to do it, and I encourage anyone with sufficient leverage in the marketplace of labor to do the same. But I’m also cognizant of what I pay for this decision. 90%+ of the CFO roles for which I might otherwise be qualified aren’t available to me, because I’m not willing to work on-site. Because the set of opportunities available to me is smaller, it means I have less leverage when I compete for the roles that remain. The equilibrium price of the labor I provide is reduced; the difference between what I could be making at an office vs. what I actually make working from a treadmill desk in my basement is the premium I pay to be able to see my kids more, work out in the middle of the day, drink real espresso instead of Green Mountain Nantucket Blend K-Cups, and not have to smell the orange chicken Bill ate the day before. For me, the trade-off is worth it. For you, maybe it is, or maybe it isn’t. That’s up to you to decide. What’s NOT productive for you, however, is wasting your time on Twitter, complaining that all the jobs posted on LinkedIn now require four or five days a week of going into the office. You’re competing in a marketplace. We all are. It’s perfectly fine to set the terms that are acceptable to you. But you’re doing nothing but wasting your own limited, highly precious time when you complain about your counterparties in this marketplace also setting the terms that are acceptable to them.

@UberEats I worked at Uber back in the heyday and am a huge fan. I also have a daughter with a peanut allergy. This commercial was good until they decided that a potentially-fatal condition for nearly 1 in 10 kids made for a good punchline. @pierre_dimitri lets get this fixed before Sunday
