@pukicho oh never mind I just saw your own response to this on the site. So I guess they haven't implemented it for this post yet.

Tumblr has released their SECOND worst update in its tumultuous history. This is astronomically bad. It gives every reblog the same capacity of a quote retweet, but it isn't nested nor designed for such use. It completely obliterates how conversations are held on the site.

@Adfer_L Reblogs are treated as replies on tumblr, less than entirely new tweets. The user experience isn't designed for so much extra information being nested in reblogs, unknown to the topmost poster.

@Adfer_L Yes, and Twitter is designed in that way. I can click on that original tweet and look at the quote retweets and see every branching convo respective of that original tweet. Can't do that on tumblr, the information isn't there, and reblogs are 100x times more common than quotes

Ultimately, it just feels a lot worse to use, conversations feels more segmented, you can't keep track of things by referring to the original post anymore, artists lose traction, the community feels smaller, and jokes don't land the same.

@fleshpies @pukicho Correct. The total amount of notes will show up if you use a custom theme but not if you’re on mobile or viewing a blog on the dash, this is such an incredibly stupid update and for what?

@fleshpies The fix to this would be that the original, top-most post still gets all of the aggregate information/likes/reblogs that all of the reblogs, replies and likes generate. Or you know, revert it.

@fleshpies Yeah. Your post will still be up top, but they don't need to interact with it if they instead choose to interact with the reblog *attached* to it. It mostly means you get much less information about what people think/feel about your art, and conversations are harder to track.

This also really undermines artist outreach by segmenting the posts attention and notes into smaller pieces that may not even get back to the OP
