@DealsDhamaka So we all have dad that brought O’General from Gulf (through the famed customs!) :)
Don’t know what is its equivalent in today’s world! Maybe robot? 3d printer?
English

Dad bought this AC in 2010
O'General imported from the Middle East. 16 years and not a single problem to date... It's installed in my hometown in AP where temperatures are really high 🥵
In the last 8 years, after I started earning - I purchased 3 ACs for our home in Pune. 2 have severe problems ... VOLTAS gone in 2nd year, no service, pathetic experience, lost 14K for gas, PCB charges and Finally left it to trash. Then Daikin in 2024 - which working fine to date, Last year bought our 2nd Daikin AC - which is giving problems already, last week PCB gone and replaced, today again gone.
Is it low quality of products over time ? Is it better quality when imported ? Is it location ? Is it manufactrer ?
I am not sure, and once AC stops working service is damn expensive.
P.S. we have bluestar (8-9 years old at hometown which is working fine and Lloyd 1 year old which is fine)

@ifOnlyKantala Nations that silently grinded decades back without getting distracted by PR or SM reels became developed and high gdp/ capita nation. Rest are now in permanent underclass nation’s category.
English

@LiveLawIndia He is mistaken in the fact in assuming it’s the unemployed who attacks aggressively on SM. Infact it’s those who are gainfully employed who finds extra time to bash those in authority responsible for civic infra
English

CJI Surya Kant says there are "parasites" attacking the system.
"There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don't get any employment and don't have any place in the profession. Some of them become media, some of them become social media, some of them become RTI activists, some of them become other activists, and they start attacking everyone." - CJI.

VIDEO | Delhi: Petrol, diesel prices hiked by Rs 3 per litre each. A consumer at a fuel pump in Dhaula Kuan, says, "We have to look at this from two perspectives. There are two ways of understanding it. Individually, it definitely affects people, but if you look at the overall situation, wars are going on across the world. Fuel is becoming difficult to procure, demand is increasing, and the barrel cost of crude oil has gone extremely high. Considering all these factors, even if prices are increasing by Rs 3, as citizens we need to understand the larger picture. At the same time, inflation will definitely be affected because whenever petrol or diesel prices rise, all associated sectors are impacted and the prices of goods and services increase as well. Given the current global situation and the ongoing wars, I believe the government must have taken this decision after careful consideration. In my opinion, we should support it."

@vijaythirumalai Any party with continuous churn and attrition esp at top leadership levels is the solution.
English

A lot of smart well -intentioned people are very unhappy with BJP Govt for the state of affairs & rightfully so
People would walk on water if PM Modi told to, he had absolute majority for 10 years, super -strong position even now. However it looks like the mandate was wasted in building nothing generational & all was transactional
I am super angry & upset too like all of you.
However, do remember if you channelize this energy to vote for say CON/AAP or whoever else, it would only get 10X worse from here ( See what Mamata did to the super vibrant Calcutta / WB, similar cases with Akhilesh etc)
What is the solution,to make BJP/ PM Modi do 2x better, i don't know.
But what i know is CON/ anyone else is definitely not the solution

@san_x_m Cult fest ‘Ragam’ of NIT Calicut (erstwhile REC) was named in the honour and memory of Rajan
English

His name was Rajan.
He was a final year engineering student at the Regional Engineering College in Calicut, Kerala. His father, T V Eachara Varier, was a Hindi professor at the Government Arts and Science College in the same city.
On the morning of March 1 1976 the police came to the college campus and took Rajan away.
India was under Emergency. Civil liberties were suspended. Courts had effectively turned away.
His father found out the next day from the college principal.
He went to every police station in the district. No one admitted to having his son.
He met the Home Minister of Kerala, K Karunakaran, directly.
He sent petitions to the Home Secretary of the Government of Kerala three times. Not a single reply or acknowledgement came.
He wrote to the President of India and the Home Minister of the central government, with copies to every Member of Parliament from Kerala.
Nothing.
What Eachara Varier did not know at the time was that his son had been taken to an illegal police interrogation camp at Kakkayam.
He was tortured.
A practice called uruttal was used, where a heavy wooden log is rolled over the body of the victim.
Rajan died from his injuries. His body was disposed of by the police and was never found.
When the Emergency ended in 1977 Eachara Varier filed a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court.
It was the first such petition filed in Kerala after the Emergency.
He did it without legal training, without political backing, without money.
He had spent everything searching for his son.
The court case slowly unravelled the truth.
It forced K Karunakaran to resign as Chief Minister of Kerala in 1978 when the adverse judgment came.
Rajan’s mother became mentally unstable from the grief. She died in 2000 still not knowing where her son was.
Eachara Varier wrote his memoir, Memories of a Father, which won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2004.
In its final lines he wrote, “I don’t close the door. Let the rain lash inside and drench me. Let at least my invisible son know that his father never shut the door.”
He died on April 13 2006. He never found his son’s body.
Rajan was picked up from his college campus on a March morning in 1976. He was never seen again.
Repost this. Some stories must not be allowed to disappear.

@om_patel5 AI will come for all the animals before finishing off humans
English

THIS GUY BUILT AN AUTOMATED PIGEON DEFENSE SYSTEM FOR HIS BALCONY
pigeons kept nesting on his balcony so he engineered a full detection and deterrent system
here's how it works:
1\ camera captures video in real time
2\ an AI model identifies the pigeon in real time
3\ a water gun mounted on servo motors turns toward it
4\ sprays the pigeon automatically
the hardware:
> an orange pi 5 running the detection model
> a disassembled electric battery-driven water gun
> USB camera
> 2 servo motors for aiming
> resistors and a transistor to trigger the water gun
the detection runs on an AI vision model (yolo world v2) using the rockchip 3588's built in neural processing unit.
the best part is that it's not limited to pigeons. because it uses open vocabulary detection, you can reprogram the target to any object. squirrels, cats, raccoons, whatever is messing with your balcony
fully automated, runs 24/7, no manual intervention needed
