@CoolyCooliCoole @LeftyWinter The worst thing about the Democrats is that they are not an effective opposition party, because they run candidates who don't want to make change.

@CoolyCooliCoole @LeftyWinter When competent leftists talk about this, they mean that both parties uphold the underlying structures that have led us to where we are now. Democrats are better on some social issues and are trying to maintain the status quo rather than tear everything apart.

Most of the time I'm on here complaining about centrists but this crap annoys me the most about some factions on the leftist side of the political spectrum. We have a two party system. That's what we are working with. Until that changes, you got to work within the Democratic Party. No matter how annoyed or angry you get. We win some we lose some. Get involved in your primaries, run for office, get involved in your county, city, State Democratic Party. Join groups who ONLY organize for progressive candidates inside the Democratic Party (working families party, DSA, Progressive Democrats of America, resistance groups like indivisible, Swing Left, Move On, etc). Run for your Democratic precinct leadership positions. Support policy related groups lobbying for a specific issue you care about, example March for Our Lives (gun safety) , public citizen (accountable government) , unions, Healthcare-NOW (Medicare for all group), etc. I know how easy it is to want to give up on this Party. I did before but I came right back after I realized I made a mistake when I was younger.

Hasan Piker: “We’re voting for Democrats with a purpose." The purpose of Democrats is to keep us trapped in the duopoly. They serve the same corrupt system as Republicans. To build a better world people must find the courage to abandon the parties that uphold this decaying one.

@CONEY There are many games that you can play perfectly fine with the trackpad, including fast-pased or shooter games. Obviously a mouse is much better, but you can get by with just the trackpad and still do well

@N38S1 @EllieGabalus There have been 5 mass shooting by trans people in the last 12 years, out of 5,748 total, or 0.1%. White supremacists killed 78 people in 2016 alone, and hundreds total over the same time frame.

@Chipm761 @reesetheone1 There is still racism in the Democratic Party, and it should be eliminated, but it's night and day compared to Republicans.

@Chipm761 @reesetheone1 Nearly everything covered in this article happened before even FDR, which was the beginning of the party switch. Obviously the Republicans were founded to end slavery, but things changed. You'll notice black people have voted more for Democrats ever since that time period.

@Chipm761 @reesetheone1 If you had studied any amount of US political history, you would know that the parties switched during the mid-20th century, evidenced by the Civil Rights Act being pushed through by LBJ, a Democrat. I can tell you which party KKK members support now, and it's not the Democrats.

@biteecee @_sn_n Is this that "the US is not a democracy" bullshit? The US is a democratic republic, which is, notably, a type of democracy.

@Pithythegrump @micah_erfan The Democratic-Republican Party in 1812 looks almost nothing like the Democratic Party today, due to the party switch, the split of the Democratic-Republican Party in 1828, and the fact that over 200 years have passed.

@0hHigh0h @AndBrianne127 @AesPolitics1 There's a reason I live here, and it ain't the politics. It's because I grew up here and love the cities (which are, notably, controlled by Democrats).

@Boise1932 @trickydickpol @maxasteele No, they do the same thing: disenfranchise voters. You'll notice that the corners of the districts always happen to be on major cities, breaking up urban Democratic voters and grouping them with rural Republican voters. It does the same thing, it just looks better.

@lancevideos @harryjsisson @JBPritzker This is not inconsistent. We would rather gerrymandering be illegal, but seeing as it's not, we're going to use it to our advantage, just as the Republicans are.

@Nomads4Pritzker I think it's a good thing to disenfranchise the people that vote for the party that wants to make everyone's lives worse actually

I’m going to be real for a second: the Manderpalooza is bad. It disenfranchises Republicans in Illinois and Democrats in Texas, leading people to see the political system as less legitimate overall. We need a national gerrymandering ban, as JB has called for, but I just don’t see how our lazy, good for nothing Congress is going to vote to make their own seats more competitive, ever.
