This guy from DSA is really using Nakba Day to celebrate himself and his organization while Palestinians mourn our families, our dispossession, and an ongoing genocide. Palestine was not brought to the forefront of public consciousness because of DSA. It was forced into public consciousness by the genocide of Palestinians and by decades of Palestinian resistance, organizing, and sacrifice at immense cost. And where is this same “we did this” energy when Mamdani equates anti Zionism with antisemitism, threatens political speech with hate crime charges, throws protesters under the bus, or keeps Jessica Tisch as police commissioner? Why doesn’t he say “DSA did that” too? It’s incredible to watch people instrumentalize Palestinian suffering for political self mythology while demanding Palestinians stay quiet every time those same politicians criminalize our movement. Nakba Day is not a branding opportunity for DSA.
