In 1952 Islamists took control of ministry of religion in Indonesia and declared Balinese Hindus “people without religion” because it didn’t fit with definition of religion per Islamic view. Very existence of Hinduism in Bali was threatened. At that time some Hindu Shastris from India helped them to standardized Balinese Hinduism on Agamic principles and then Indian diplomats pursued Indonesian government to recognize it.

With 300 years of hindsight, it's now clear that ordering the building of Jantar Mantar might be Mohammad Shah Rangila's greatest (only?) contribution to Indian history.

Hinduism has little to do with the Vedic faith. But if you insist on using the Vedas to establish the antiquity of your faith, then the same standard should be applied to Islam. The Muslim faith is too a continuation of Abrahamic tradition, whose archaeological evidence (Soleb Inscription; c. 1400 BCE) is older than any physical evidence of the Vedic elements. The Soleb Inscription predates Rama's earliest mention by 1,600 years.
