Intrestingly when I have emailed Thameslink to claim money back for having to take alternative travel they have now claimed that this didn't constitute exceptional disruption, which is an intresting way to say that you don't know how to run a train service
Thameslink@TLRailUK

📢 Thameslink services are impacted across the network, and we strongly advise passengers not to travel at this time. Please check the next update for the incidents impacting the network...

#OnThisDay 1903 Taff Vale Railway brakesman Percival Sigley injured his right ankle at Llantrisant Junction, #Glamorgan, #Wales. He was 'tow-roping' - a cause of many accidents: using a rope attached to a loco to pull a wagon, he got caught between the rope & wagon. #Railway200

As far as possible, our 200 for #Railway200 will be #OnThisDay cases. We'll try to find varied & representative people & incidents. And if there's a particular theme or 'special day', we'll see what we can contribute to that. It'll all give an impression of our project's scope.

MOQUETTE ALERT: End of the ghost marks. New seat protectors at 4 Central London stations. The colours reflect the interchanges at the station. Walls are made of glass fibre reinforced concrete - good for sound proofing & light but does pick up dirt and this is TfL’s solution.

#OnThisday 92 years ago the Piccadilly Line was extended at both ends: from Arnos Grove to Enfield West (Oakwood), and from Northfields to Hounslow West. Poster marking the event @ltmuseum collection buff.ly/bRslQJh

#OnThisDay 119 years ago the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway, rapidly branded 'Bakerloo' by Londoners and officially became so 4 months later, opened between Kennington Road (Lambeth North) and Baker Street. Poster from around the time of opening @ltmuseum buff.ly/MkKyQ0c

Liverpool Overhead Railway, February 1955. View from the Royal Liver Building looking towards the north end of town. The LOR (1893-1956) was the first elevated electric railway in the world and one of the few to escape nationalisation in 1948. The railway offered tours of the Liverpool Docks and the River Mersey. #OnThisDay 117 years ago things got a little less confusing: Tottenham Court Road Northern Line station was opened as 'Oxford Street', and Goodge Street station was named 'Tottenham Court Road' (pictured) even though the Central Line station down the road had the same name. 1/2

The former Crawford’s Advertising building at 233 High Holborn can lay claim to be the first modernist building in London, and certainly the first modernist office building. Read more about it in our new blog, Design of the Times modernistlondon.co.uk/blog/design-of…
