After a long time of thinking, I have finally made the dive to start my own YouTube channel, where I can talk about the things that matter to me. My first video is about the #VaccineApartheid Watch it here: youtu.be/Ku09S88EpPw

Another day, another example of how broken training is in the NHS I challenge any consultants here to have scored the cut off of 22 JUST TO MAKE INTERVIEW for medical training after FY2 This situation is because of active choices We need a hard policy and people reset!

I have seen the views from some quarters re @lengreview Personally? A change in name; defining uniform; no undifferentiated patients; senior named clinician as Supervisor ; GMC having to make distinctive differentiation etc are steps forward for patient safety Yes, there are bits (Higher PA etc) which will raise concerns - and that’s the role of BMA, Colleges to tackle. It won’t satisfy everyone- but such reviews never will. Where does it go next? Blog from Nov 24 as a prediction- and it’s certainly headed that way. nhssugardoc.blogspot.com/2024/11/crysta…

In another example of the utter contempt @NHSEngland & @gmcuk have for Doctors… Those trainees applying for HST who did not pass MRCP pt 2 (and were inaccurately told they had due to the federation cock up) have been written to & informed that they are ineligible for HST until they have passed the exam. Despite the extraordinary circumstances & through no fault of our affected trainee colleagues. This is despite protestations from @MRCPUK @TheBMA @RCPhysicians @RCP_RDC etc Over to @drcolinm @sheona_macleod - how is this acceptable? rcp.ac.uk/news-and-media…

Today, I got my job allocation as an incoming doctor. After 9 years studying at Cambridge, a PhD, and scholarships for ranking high up in my cohort, I’ve been placed in Northern Ireland - hours away from any friends or family and one of my lowest choices. #NHS #FY1 #UKFPO

the ‘career wishes and expectations of medical graduates’ have changed. Really? I think they’ve always been the same 1. Assurance in securing a training number and career progression 2. Protected training time with sufficient funding, supervision and opportunities
Professor Stephen Powis@Prof_StevePowis

Today NHS England has launched a new review looking at postgraduate medical training. It’s been several years since medical training was reviewed and the way we practise medicine has continued to evolve, as have the career wishes and expectations of medical graduates.

Its almost like opening up the gates to uncapped numbers of doctors from abroad has completely destroyed the local market. Who could have seen that coming? We have UK trained doctors who will be unemployed, move abroad, or leave medicine coming this August. Absolute farce.

Honest question: If a TAVI list is too straightforward for an SPR, why not train SHOs or house officers? Hundreds of aspiring anaesthetists don’t get into training every year; I’m sure they’d love this opportunity. Why prioritize nurses over doctors for this?
Noman Ali@Dr_Noman_Ali

In September 2022 we tweeted our 1000th nurse-led sedation TAVI case. Today, we did our 2000th. We are hugely proud of our nurse-led programme which continues to go from strength to strength. Congrats to the whole team.

A call for action, change is needed and our voices must be heard. I have been working with like minded doctors behind the UK graduate prioritisation petition, I am in full support of the stances and demands. See the full briefing and petition here: bit.ly/UKGraduatePeti…
