Bengal-based manufacturing giants Titagarh Rail Systems, Jupiter Wagons and Texmaco Rail & Engin­eer­ing Ltd. are deemed favourites for the order. The pro­posed tender, expec­ted to be slightly big­ger than the pre­vi­ous large wagon pro­cure­ment exer­cise undertaken in 2022, could involve an annual pro­cure­ment of 35,000–40,000 wag­ons, and the first set of wagon orders will likely be issued in the second quarter (July–Septem­ber) of the ongo­ing fiscal year.

The rail commute is absolutely stressed despite trains running as frequently as 10 minutes. Metro is definitely needed here.

𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸! A proposed metro line between Baranagar and Barrackpore stuck for nearly 16 years got a fresh push after Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), the implementing agency for the corridor, met civic officials at Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters to iron out the issues plaguing the project. The 12.5-km Pink Line was sanctioned in 2010 but got stuck after KMC refused to shift underground water pipelines that lie along the central verge of BT Road. The Ministry of Railways has decided to give the project a fresh push. The primary aim now is to shift the water pipelines that connect the Palta water treatment plant and the Tallah water reservoir. Once the project gets underway, at least 200 big and small realty projects around BT Road will get a major boost.

Sh. Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL, conducted a railcar inspection of the Dhanbad–Dankuni section in connection with the proposed East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor. The inspection focused on assessing alignment feasibility and future #freight connectivity potential of the section. Once developed, the corridor is expected to significantly enhance freight movement across eastern India, improve network integration and support seamless movement of bulk commodities and industrial freight. 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟲𝟭 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹. Government of West Bengal has directed all departments concerned to hand over land to the railway authorities for the completion of 61 stalled projects in the state. These projects are stalled due to land allotment issues, including one at Hili near the India-Bangladesh border in Uttar Dinajpur district and another in Purba Medinipur’s Nandigram. Currently a total work of upwards of ₹92,974 crore is under progress in West Bengal. CM Adhikari stated: "We will use the opportunity of the double-engine government to accelerate the speed of development."

And then on the other end of the #GreenLine if they can extend the line up to #Santragachi from the existing #HowrahMaidan it will connect the other remaining railway terminus for the city on the @serailwaykol line. All railway terminuses in the city will then be connected by a single Metro line.

Now that #Metro🚇 works are picking up pace in #Kolkata, one extension that Metro authorities in they city should urgently consider is an extension of the #GreenLine from Saltlake Sector V to Kolkata Station with pillars along the canal with stations at Kestopur, Laketown etc. That way land acquisition won’t be so much of an issue and three terminal @EasternRailway stations #Howrah, #Sealdah and #Kolkata will be connected by a single metro line. #KolkataMetro
