@DanWolken The )over here is women's college hoops. It was a physical game uconn wasn't ready for, and maybe not capable of playing. I don't know enough of the rules to say if it should've been called differently. Geno mad at the refs. Mad at how poorly his team shot. He handled it poorly.

In this interview on the Selection Show, chair Keith Gill indicated that the committee's belief that BJ Edwards would be available for the NCAA Tournament tipped the balance to make SMU the last team selected. The Mustangs lost four of their last five games while Edwards was injured. SMU told the committee and the public that Edwards would be available for the NCAA Tournament. Now we learn that he will not play tonight vs. Miami (Ohio). I understand that injuries and availability can be an inexact science, so we should not be quick to assign motives. But it is highly unusual for an injury to have this much consequence on selection, only to have the information prove to be incorrect. There needs to be a full accounting as to what happened and why, and how much the information that SMU provided to the committee was a factor in this decision. It goes directly to the integrity of the process. I hope this question will be further addressed and clarified in the coming days. In the meantime, I hope we get a great game!

I think it’s easy to say “just go find your Mike Elko” when you’re not the one who has to make the hire. (I know, because I’ve said exactly what Matt said here a bunch of times on the show.) But it’s probably a lot harder to pull the trigger when there are big names available.

Dan Gavitt previously told me on-record that a decision for the 2026 NCAAT would likely require action taken in "the spring." We're now approaching midsummer and the controversial issue is still TBD. Certainly seems possible—at the very least—that 2026 *could* be a 68-team NCAAT.

Update: The NCAA Tournament selection committee has wrapped its annual summer meeting and there is NO decision in on whether or not to expand the NCAA Tournament, source confirms to @CBSSports. An official update from the NCAA is expected shortly. @PeteThamel first here.
