@creepydotorg Better question is why has Africa contributed so little to the world in terms of advancing technology? The entire continent has zero technological inventions.

@RewiretheWest I studied medieval philology in German languages Tolkein draws on other works like Nibelungenlied in which a hero Siegfried has a device which makes him invisible, it’s unclear what it is, it could be an article of clothing The Tarnkappe Also from Gottfried‘s Tristan & Isolde

One piece of literature influenced The Lord of the Rings more than any other Tolkien studied it for 25 years, convinced it had a hidden meaning What he discovered changed the face of literature and helped him create his life’s masterpiece… 🧵

@swheaton Now Le Pen may not win. Win with no or low majority But Macron will still be President, with the chance to hinder extremism. At the next election after that, Macrons coalition will have the normal oppositions strategy of jumping all over the sitting governments mistakes.

@swheaton There should be a third choice to vote on: c) He had no choice! Le Pen and Bardella support has been gaining continuously monthly. By the time the usual election arrived, it would probably be a landslide.

Recent history hot takes poll! Macron's move to call a snap election in the wake of Le Pen/Bardella's strong performance is: a) Suicidal. Like David Cameron own-goaling into Brexit b) Brilliant. Like Pedro Sanchez calling those right wingers' bluff

@ChristineCair15 @theSNP At the grand old age of 75 I have rejoined the SNP. Been a bit disillusioned over the last wee while but have just remembered it's folk like me who have to convince anyone who will listen that Independence is the only way.

The UK Covid Inquiry has questions to answer itself. Clear evidence of double-standards and the following of an offensive anti-SNP twitter account suggests something isn't right.

I’m embarrassed at how this enquiry has been conducted - it’s corrupt How can they invite a witness hostile to the ex FM to give his opinion on how she performed? Then barely mention his deleted WhatsApps with his excuse he wanted to free up space That’s a lie and we know it

Sturgeon’s daily press briefings from a very (at times) hostile & partisan media, was an extraordinary & unique demonstration in UK politics of the public being treated as adults as she shared her thinking, explained decisions & dilemmas: that’s what the UKGovt hated.
The National@ScotNational

Bereaved families will decide Nicola Sturgeon’s legacy, not Unionists, writes @LesleyRiddoch ✍️ 🗣️: "Nicola Sturgeon may have made wrong decisions on some key Covid issues. But she has shared her thinking on all of them – uniquely amongst Scottish and UK politicians"
