Yes that is a person that can drive to it. We ALL choose to live where we do. We choose to have kids(birth control and condoms exist) . Most of us work full time. I bet that parent finds a way to take their kids to games, out to dinner, grocery, movies, etc. Don't act like someone like that is not able to take a couple hours to do something other than all you listed. You are being ridiculous. If they can't do it then they must not think voting is important enough, and should just stay home. It is a one time thing, not a weekly or even yearly thing. That's what the SAVE Act requires.

The SAVE America Act eliminates mail-in voter registration. Online registration. Registration at a church, a college campus, a DMV, a Social Security office. Marc Elias confirmed it: those are the most common ways Americans register to vote, and the bill removes all of them. What remains is in-person, with documentary proof of citizenship, for every new registration in America. Then it requires a photocopy of your ID when you request an absentee ballot and again when you submit it. Elias has litigated in every state and is not aware of any state that currently requires this. His read on why: "This photo ID requirement is not actually about ID. It's about banning mail-in voting." Women whose legal names changed after marriage will find their birth certificate name mismatches their current ID. Schumer named this explicitly. Schumer also confirmed the DHS data-sharing provision hands over state voter rolls for federal screening that he says will purge tens of millions. The Democracy Docket piece traces exactly how this started. Mike Johnson needed a survival stunt in 2024. Trump leveraged it. It passed the House. Senate Democrats blocked it. Republicans lost seats anyway. Now Trump is demanding the Senate version add a near-total ban on mail-in voting and two unrelated transgender provisions as the price for his support. The problem this bill claims to fix has never materialized at scale. The machinery it builds would cost $510 million per election cycle — 11.3 times current federal election funding — and require up to 5 million additional training hours for local election workers who face criminal liability if they miss a step.
