Madurai was ranked the dirtiest city in India (Swachh Survekshan 2025). Score: 4823 out of 12500. Waste processing at 4%. Public toilet cleanliness at 3%. This is your constituency. You promised to make Madurai like Singapore. 42% of citizen petitions in your Ward 21 are about drains, garbage, streetlights, and drinking water. The basics. In 2026. Your own MLACD data for ward 21 shows 24 projects over 9 years. 16 of them are just “BT Road”-laying tar. Zero drainage projects. Zero waste management. Zero public toilets? And 21 of those 24 projects happened when you were in opposition (2016-2021). Only 3 projects after you became a ruling party minister. You did MORE from opposition than from power. 3682 welfare beneficiaries across your constituency over 4 years. Yes, these are targeted schemes with eligibility criteria. But even among the eligible poor, is 3-4% reach acceptable for a FM turned IT Minister in his own backyard? Ward 21 got 26 CM health insurance cards in 5 years. Only 26. For a ward of ~12000 people. Meanwhile in Madurai district, people are drinking hand sanitiser because they cant afford TASMAC. This was reported in 2025. In your city. Sanitiser. As alcohol. TASMAC made 48k crore record high revenue. De-addiction budget is 20crore. And you were the FM who knew these numbers better than anyone. You told the Assembly your own IT dept has “no funds, no authority. You confronted officials about drainage problems you fixed as opposition MLA coming back under your own govt. If you’re this frustrated with the system from inside, what hope does a daily wager in Madurai have? If this is the best Madurai gets from its most qualified transparent MLA, what does the rest of TN look like?
