@Beem1121277Beem @JoeMerrick For what it's worth I don't really believe them on digital being a discount due to the Japanese and European prices being cheaper for Yoshi than DK, but it would line up with previous Yoshi games price points on their respective consoles being the same as other major 1st parties

@Beem1121277Beem @JoeMerrick Yoshi Physical is $70 in North America and Nintendo's positioned the digital split as a discount for digital, which would indicate they see it as a full premier title, like Donkey Kong Bananza, so it really comes down to whether you think Nintendo's lying about that or not

This is a good point actually.
Vast majority of first party Switch 2 games in Europe retail at €80 while in the US they're $70.
Various people online (such as Centro) have been doing direct $ = € conversion when that hasn't actually been the case

@JoeMerrick people just see the number and not the currency symbol and immediately assume it will be 80$, when every switch 2 first party game (except mario kart) before Yoshi has been 80€ for the physical version in germany, so amazon just assumed it would be the same for gen 10

@JoeMerrick Sounds like you're coming up with abritary rules just to not accept this - but we have more than 4 NS2 editions that have launched at a consistent $ to € ratio, thanks to them not enacting the Digital/Physical price split on those - all of which are full price

@JoeMerrick How many instances will be necessary? We have 4 upcoming games, all the NS2 editions follow this (which have not had the price split in Europe). Again, I don't think this confirms WiWa will be €80, but I'll be surprised if the € to $ conversion is different

@JoeMerrick That's just because America didn't have the Physical/Digital price split before then, on the eShop - and now they have the split - they have been consistent, so unless you think WiWa is going to be exempt from the split, there's no reason to assume it won't be the case here

Pokopia, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby etc. all €79.99 physical and $69.99 physical.

I remember bringing my steamdeck on a trip last year foolishly thinking that since it's a handheld console literally created by valve that it would be fine and then half my games just hit me with this shit when I tried to boot them

@corybuckley @sebascontre @carloskarba2 While the RBY and GSC releases on 3DS got 12+, in 2020 PEGI changed the rules so that any game with simulated gambling is always an 18+, so a reclassified FRLG would be rated as an adults only game or would need the Game Corner removed from the game

Mario Kart World has a 14+ hours long soundtrack full of original music and inventive new arrangements of music from ALL of Mario's history, all played LIVE by members of T-Square, Dimension, and DeZolve and ppl just go "eh its just remixes its not that special". Are we joking???

On this eve of Switch 2's launch, I'd like to share a heart-warming story from the past.
As a huge Nintendo fan, in 2006 when I heard Sony was losing money on every PS3 sold, I immediately went out and bought 8 of them. It was all I could afford.
I smashed those PS3's with a hammer into dust. I barely had enough money left over to buy the hammer.
Truth is, I still haven't financially recovered from doing that. But it was worth it. I love you Nintendo. I will always love you 🤗💖💖

@Ihaveopinions54 @NintyPrime switch games are £49.99 over here, ps5 games are £69.99 but that was already too much (about 90 USD)
retailers over here usually reduce games by £10 on a game's launch so the average person is paying £39.99 for a switch game - £74.99 is nearly double if they ever stop doing that

Quick comments on pricing. From what I understand, MK World is $80 physical, $70 digital. We know DK is $70 and could be $60 digital.
This is interesting. First, cheaper to buy digital fits with other decisions they are making to Push more digital sales. Meanwhile, we now know switch 2 uses 32 and 64gb carts. Because of this, they are also more expensive. Remember the Switch tax? Say hello to the Switch 2 tax.
I am not sure tariffs play a role, though yes, Mario Katy is $15 cheaper in Japan. So maybe?
In the end none of this bothers me. $70 was expected. $80 for a single game so far wasn’t. But, I know World will be with the price of entry.
This seems to be the highest backlashed item today.
