Took a couple of looks/listens at Bubba Wallace's onboard in the crash with Carson Hocevar - It never sounds like he's hard in the throttle when his bumper snags the 77 and he's pretty much out of it when the 77 spins. I included MPH/RPM to try and tell the tale better. I thought it looked like piledriving at first myself but the more I looked at it the more it just seems like a racing deal while the inside line was stacking up.

When I worked at Macy's back in the 80's, people who worked there raised families on what they made. It was their career. I remember the guy in electronics retired after 30 years, and my boss in the cash office did the same. The guys who worked in the suit department did very well for themselves. Despite that, the store profited greatly every year, and we were given a beautiful Christmas party in appreciation. What changed in this country? When did it become nearly impossible to support oneself at a job that didn't require a degree or technical school?

Pain of an unemployed person: • You wake up late, but still feel tired • Every day feels the same • You apply for jobs daily, no replies • Phone notifications give hope, then nothing • Family keeps asking “Any update?” • Friends slowly stop calling • You start avoiding people • Money feels tight all the time • You feel guilty even while resting • Confidence slowly goes down • You start doubting yourself • Skills are there, opportunity is not • Motivation comes and goes • Nights are full of overthinking • You feel stuck and helpless • You are trying, but no one sees it Being unemployed is not laziness. It’s mental pressure no one understands 😔.

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.  Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace. I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution. Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

@GodsBurnt The future of war is not enlisted/drafted humans. It’s drones, automation, and tech. You’re more likely to pilot an automated war weapon than put a gun on your shoulder.

They’d NEVER get Americans to enlist for WW3… Unless they: - Made owning a house impossible. - Made everyone lose their jobs to AI. - Made groceries unaffordable. And then made the military the only real way to provide for a family. Oh wait…

we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company. #### today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone. first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay. we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly. i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures. a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers. we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold. to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward. to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow. jack

Block just cut 40% of its 10,000 workers, the highest percentage layoff in the history of the S & P 500. Its stock jumped 20%. This is a huge sign of what’s to come. Major companies are going to jettison workers on an unprecedented scale and be rewarded for it.

Sorry if I’m not excited about AI. While I try to remain optimistic about the future, I think AI will be our downfall. Today, we saw Block lay off 20% of their workforce due to AI. If more companies start laying people off due to AI we will run into a serious problem where people can’t find job replacements to bridge the gap fast enough. Think about a family of 4 with a mortgage and car payment, suddenly losing their income. And then multiply this by hundreds of families across all major cities. It can very quickly become an economic disaster to the tune of another Great Depression. I do worry about this constantly. I just don’t see how we get out of this without something major happening first. - Lade Backk

Job security is a joke in 2026 - A company laid off 4,000 people due to AI tools. - They were profitable. - But they wanted more. - Investors loved it. - The stock price went up. - indirectly said: “We can afford you. We just don’t want to.” - Now other companies are watching. - They’ll feel pressure to cut more jobs too - not because they have to survive, but to increase profits and please investors. - And then they said: “We may have gotten some of them wrong.” - You might have fired the wrong people? - So this is experimental? Companies are literally treating people like disposable pieces in a strategy game. Hard to watch it 💔
