"The truth is that everything depends on the children of Israel. As they correct themselves, all creations follow them." — Sefat Emet The fact that Jews can be so different from one another is exactly the way it's supposed to be—from the political left to the right, from the devoutly religious to the completely secular, from those living in Israel to across the Diaspora. If we can strive to connect above all our differences, so can everyone else. God needs us to show the rest of humanity a positive example. Then there can be peace in the world.

Last year, I arrived at @MilkenInstitute Global Conference carrying one clear mission: to help bring everyone home. In a room filled beyond capacity, I shared my story, spoke about the friends we lost, and emphasized the urgent need to bring every hostage back home. Today, returning to Milken feels deeply meaningful. After a long journey of pain, resilience, and hope, everyone is finally home. Alongside that collective moment of return, I am also beginning a new chapter in my own life, one focused on rebuilding, growth, and looking forward, including stepping into the worlds of technology, innovation, and venture capital. I’m grateful to be here not only to reflect on the past, but also to think about the future, about leadership, technology, AI, humanity, and the responsibility we all share to create a better world from even the darkest moments. I’m excited for what’s ahead and look forward to sharing more soon. From the lowest place, we rise.

Real Jewish unity is when fellow Jews strive to connect with one another above all differences. What is necessary? Bringing our hearts closer together. What isn't necessary? Uniformity in the observance of Judaism or agreement on contentious issues. The world needs an example of how love can exist over disparities and we are the only group who can deliver this to humanity. When we don't engage in this task, more and more people start feeling that Jews & Israel are unnecessary. But if we do engage in this task, the irrational hatred toward us will subside. It may seem like an unlikely solution to antisemitism, but our sages have tried to tell us for thousands of years that this is the way out. "The vitality, sustenance and correction of the whole of creation are by people of differing views becoming included together in love, unity and peace." — Likutey Halachot

The way political podcasting turned out helped me understand something I always struggled to grasp. I grew up listening to my teachers tell us stories about the European blood libels against Jews. The libel usually went like this: right before Passover, a Christian child disappeared. Then a manhunt would begin, usually led by the town or village priest, and it would end with them “finding” the dead body in the basement of the prominent Jew in the city, town, or village. The fake reason given by the priest and local authorities for why the Jew supposedly killed the Christian child was that Jews needed Christian blood to put into matzah. Thousands of Jews were killed because of this. What I always struggled to understand was: were all these people dumb? It’s fairly easy to open a Bible and see that the same God who commanded Jews to eat matzah on Passover also explicitly forbade the consumption of blood. Didn’t they know there are hundreds of laws Jews follow when slaughtering animals for food, from washing the meat repeatedly to soaking it in kosher salt to remove blood? So how did so many people go along with it? But today I understand. You don’t need the whole story to be true. You just need a Jew, a priest, and a dead child, and people will attach whatever they want to it because they like the story. It’s the same thing you see now with political podcasters who repeat the most easily debunked lies, things that can be disproven with one Google search. But they repeat them over and over because they have an audience that consumes it like a thirsty person in a desert. Take the claim that Israel completely survives on American money and would collapse without the U.S. dollar. One Google search shows how absurd that is. Israel has an economy worth roughly $540 to $720 billion and spends around $35 to $45 billion a year on defense, while U.S. aid is about $3.8 billion. And even that is not simply “free money,” considering how much the United States benefits from Israeli technology, intelligence sharing, military cooperation, and innovation. But people still repeat the lie that America is somehow “bankrolling Israel entirely” because they like the story and the talking point behind it. That's what I finally understand. For many people, you just need the words “Israel,” “America,” and “war,” and they will believe almost anything you tell them, not because the claims make sense, but because they emotionally want them to be true.

@tammydiamonds The key for Jews everywhere is to try to connect as one family above our differences (before disaster strikes): "The prime defense against calamity is love and unity. When there are love, unity and friendship in Israel, no calamity can befall them." — Maor VaShemesh

After a dark conversation with a Jewish friend this morning, I can’t shake this feeling off. We talked about the future for Jews around the world, especially in the West. And honestly? Most Jewish people I know are scared. Some quietly. Some deeply. Some are absolutely terrified. I am too. So I genuinely want to ask the minority of Jews who are not afraid: What gives you calm? What gives you confidence in the future ahead for our people?
