Believe it or not some times I get a bit of kick back from people who don’t like the content I post or the way I live. They’re not fans of setting goals, pushing yourself to be better or working hard to achieve your dreams, they just like to coast (which is fine if that’s your thing). But for every one of those I get 5,000 people like the Gentleman who sent me this email. It’s perfectly fine not to agree with the way I live, it’s your right to do so but don’t discourage others from trying to become the best versions of themselves, some of us have no choice but to keep pushing to become better.

In 2010 when I was medically discharged from the military Charlie Hobson (who at the time was CEO of The Royal Marines Association) gave me a job. My only other options according to a recruitment agency were labourer on a building site or check out assistant in a supermarket, both great jobs but not ones that lit my fire or I felt I could put my heart and soul into. After his time at the RMA & various other jobs Charlie then started working for Rock 2 Recovery UK who many of you know are an incredible organisation that have helped and saved thousands of lives within the Veteran & Emergency Services Community. Well after decades of helping and supporting others Charlie is finally retiring and I’m doing what I can to help him walk off into the sunset to spend time with his family. Before he goes he wants to do one more fundraiser to try and raise as much money as possible for Rock2Recovery so they can continue to do the incredible work that they do. BREAKING NEWS – Hari Budha Magar creates history as he successfully conquers Everest At around 3pm on May 19th, Hari stood victorious atop the world’s tallest mountain as the first ever double above-knee amputee to scale Mt Everest. Thirteen years after losing his legs in Afghanistan, Hari has proved disability is no barrier to reaching the 8,849 metre peak. Hari’s climb was made possible by a world class team of Nepalese climbers, led by Expedition Leader @krisnathapa22 . At the top, Hari shouted “We did it!”, a reference to, and in recognition of, the team effort that enabled this success. Over a satellite phone call, made possible by @NSSLGlobal to his team off the mountain, he added; “That was tough. Harder than I could have ever imagined. We just had to carry on and push for the top, no matter how much it hurt or how long it took. If I can climb to the top of the world then anyone, regardless of their disability, can achieve their dream. No matter how big your dreams, no matter how challenging your disability, with the right mindset anything is possible. “When things got really tough it was the thought of my amazing family and everyone who's helped me get onto the mountain that pushed me to the top. Without the support of so many this expedition simply wouldn't have been possible.” Hari is now safely down at basecamp and is urging supporters from around the world to dig deep as he raises money for five veteran charities including Team Forces, the Gurkha Welfare Trust, Pilgrim Bandits, Blesma, and On Course Foundation, with the aim of raising over £884,900, the height of Everest plus two zeros.
