One of the Newest Arizona Cardinals: Jeremiyah Love - RB Notre Dame Height: 6-0 Weight: 214 lbs Age: 20 Jeremiyah Love is one of the very few blue chip players in this class and widely regarded as the best player in the draft class. We know head coach Mike LaFleur is from the McShanny tree which places a high priority on the RB position. Mike LaFleur gets his version of CMC/Todd Gurley who is not just a RB but he is an offensive weapon - he does it all - on the ground, as a receiver and in pass pro. He has it all: -Size (built for the NFL). -Speed (home run hitter who is not getting caught from behind). -Contact balance. -Vision (patience and recognition of cutback lanes). -Paired with a lethal spin/hurdle to finish breakaway runs with elite ball security only having 1 career fumble which was recovered. -Takes pride in pas pro with great awareness and physicality. There are very few weakness in Love's game. Notable Statistics: -Jeremiyah Love averaged over 7 yards per touch in each of his last 2 seasons. -Love lead this draft class with 4.2 yards after contact per rush, this is with only 35% of his runs coming against light boxes, the lowest rate of any RB in this class. When he did get those light boxes? -He averaged 9.1 yards per carry which lead the entire country. This mark is the highest mark in an early round back in over a decade. -25% of his runs came against heavy boxes, the second highest rate in this class, still producing 5 yards per carry. At or behind / beyond the line of scrimmage: -He forced a missed tackle on 33% of his runs which is the highest rate in this class. -Love averaged over 10 yards per rush when contacted beyond the line of scrimmage which was the best in this class and the best by a RB with this volume over the last ten years. Other stats: -23 Designed Rushing Attempts resulting in more than 15 yards (2nd most in the country by 1 with 43 less attempts). -93.1 PFF grade which ranked 2nd in the country. -Notre Dame coaches said he was that good that he could have played WR and is the best pass protector in the draft. -He had less carries in his last two seasons than what Jeanty had in his last season at Boise, he has plenty of tread and he is only 20 years old! -It is rare to see a special player of Love's calibre that has not been run into the ground, he shared carries with during his time at ND. -Dane Brugler claimed that no other player in the 2026 NFL draft would impact the scoreboard for the Cardinals compared to Jeremiyah Love. The contract: The TV rights are going to be renegotiated either this year or next and we will see the salary cap sky rocket over the coming years. The percentage of Love's cap hits will not be talked about once this change occurs and the contract will be a steal for what this player is going to contribute to this team. There was nothing remotely close to Joe Alt as an OT prospect and there was nothing remotely close to Nick Bosa as an EDGE prospect - the Cardinals could've very much found themselves in a Kayvon Thibodeaux/Evan Neal situation. The bottom line: There was no true line of scrimmage player in this class that carried a better grade than Love as a prospect. Confirmed by the best Cardinals insider, Gambo, there was no real trade interest for a team to come up to #3. This was a unique class where 'positional value' needs to be thrown out the window due to the quality of players available (for refence look at the 2027 class already, the #2 pick would be in the late 20s). The Arizona Cardinals severely lack blue chip talent. The Cardinals lack superstars. The Cardinals lack an identity. Jeremiyah Love is a game changer. Jeremiyah Love gives the Cardinals an identity. Jeremiyah Love is going to be a star for the Arizona Cardinals. #AZCardinals #BirdGang #NFLDraft #GoIrish

I am really bullish on Drake Lindsey. Excited to see him continue to develop in his second year as the starting QB for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Cardinal fans, let me know if that OT GW TD Run reminded of you anyone.😉 #AZCardinals #BirdGang #RTB #SkiUMah #Gophers
Jace@AzJace

Got the @Nate_Tice eye emoji stamp of approval on this one😂 with a @fakecorykinnan mention so you know this will be a name to watch further develop. Both Nate and Cory are not only great QB evaluators but were the first on Fernando Mendoza. Drake Lindsey QB Minnesota Golden Gophers Ht./Wt.: 6'5" / 230 RS Sophomore with 13 College Starts -Excellent size for the position 6'5" 230. -Has the arm talent and can throw with beautiful touch. -Low amount interceptions as a first year starter. -Crazy aggressive at times (however will need to clean up the turnover worthy plays, having more than his big time throws). -Multiple under center/play action drop backs compared to most young QBs who are primarily in the shotgun. -7TD to 1INT ratio under pressure. Cardinal fans will be very intrigued with the 2027 QB class and Drake Lindsey will be a name to watch this upcoming season! #AZCardinals #BirdGang #RTB #SkiUMah #Gophers

@zyxnix @BirdmanofAZ This is the best take, imo. Brissett and Minshew have to be way worse than their career averages to hand the keys over to a 3rd round QB day one. Seeing a lot of fans in here that have no idea what to realistically expect. It's OK for a mid-round pick to be a backup, y'all.

@BirdmanofAZ I think the best move is to have Beck sit for a year and just learn the game. He doesn't need to be thrown to the wolves.

If you think instant draft grades are stupid and it only makes sense to grade a draft after a few years, you'll want to check out The Draft Machine. draft.hawkblogger.com ⚡️Every draft for every team is graded from 2010-2025 ⚡️Each player receives a grade custom to their position ⚡️Pick single seasons or multi-year mode ⚡️See the best/worst drafts over time ⚡️Set the grading weights to match your POV

Given all the conversation about consensus and the draft, I have added a new League View to draft.hawkblogger.com/consensus It allows you to: 🏈 See which teams reached the most/least in each year (2016+) 🏈 View by player to see who was the biggest reach/steal 🏈 See across seasons

Tired: “Rams reached on Ty Simpson.” Wired: Monti Ossenfort ran a full-blown smokescreen making LA believe the Cardinals were high on Simpson and forced their hand at 13.

@WBJMItch Team had a secondary coach at almost every position on defense yet seemingly no one was coaching the secondary. Pretty sad they're flushing another year of all these young players with Rallis.

Added context for Drafting Linebackers early. Even if they become an All-Pro, the actual market is still behind what the damn 5th Year Option will cost you 😅.
Ari Meirov@MySportsUpdate

The #Lions are declining the fifth-year option on All-Pro LB Jack Campbell, per @DanMillerFox2. The option for Campbell was worth nearly $22M, which no off-ball linebacker currently makes. All linebackers—both OLBs and ILBs—are grouped together for the option formula, creating a unique situation similar to what the #Ravens faced with Tyler Linderbaum as a center. Campbell now is set to be a free agent next year, barring an extension.

@HBalzer721 The problem is that all they did was replace their own free agents. No upgrades to one of the worst units in the league, just treading water. And how about that edge group? Dire after Sweat.

Confused by notion Cardinals did little for defense in free agency. No splash signings, but there were five additions (3 DL, 1 LB, 1 S) that played 82 of 85 games in 2025 and had 45 starts. Also re-signed DL L.J. Collier. They're often criticized for no depth, but it was helped.

The HARDEST — but most INTRIGUING — position group to project for the Arizona Cardinals heading into 2026: Cornerbacks • Will Johnson • Denzel Burke • Max Melton • Starling Thomas V • Elijah Jones • Sean Murphy-Bunting A ton of youth. A ton of upside…but who actually separates and locks down those starting spots?

@TheAZsportsfan1 Wilkinson must be the favorite for RT, but Monti's words were, "he'll be in the mix." We know his ceiling, it would be nice if one of the youngsters can challenge.

The Arizona Cardinals have upgraded their offensive line, probably not for the future. Definitely upgraded in 2026. Projected Cardinals Offensive Line: LT: Paris Johnson jr. LG: Chase Bistontis C: Hjalte Froholdt RG: Isaac Seumalo RT: Elijah Wilkinson

Cardinals fans should know, Jacoby Brissett isn't looking for a huge pay increase. Really, he's seeking more guaranteed money after the club told him he'd be the starter this year. Currently, he only has $1.5M in guarantees with incentives for up to another $3M. Although all vested players are fully gtd after Week 1, he can technically be released before then (injured or not) and AZ would save the ~$7.6M difference. Cardinals can guarantee his salary and incentives without actually increasing their cap number. Doing so is a win-win. Much like with Baker in 2023, this should have already been done and would have saved the club another embarrassing headline. Especially since the news came out the same day Fitz received his gold jacket.

Don't know why so many Cardinals fans aren't happy with this pick.
Eric Galko@EricGalko

The #Cardinals landed one of the best Special Teamers with LB versatility in the class in Karson Sharar. At Iowa, he’s played 545 career special teams snaps and was outstanding as a teammer, along with being a key rotational linebacker with slot corner alignments. And as a full-time starter in 2025 he had 12 TFLs. The all-state basketball player shined in space at the @ShrineBowl too. Great value! #ShrineBowlWhosNext
