I made it clear in January that I wouldn't fund Trump's immigration enforcement operations without serious reforms to stop the abuses. After weeks of talks, it’s obvious that President Trump and Republican leadership aren’t interested in doing anything to protect Americans’ rights. So they’re not getting that funding. Today’s deal is exactly what I have proposed for weeks – pay TSA agents, fund key programs like the Coast Guard and FEMA, but not ICE and Border Patrol. It should not have taken this long for Republican leaders to agree to this straightforward proposal. But I am grateful that our TSA agents and federal workers will finally get the pay they earned.
