When trump pulled the U.S. out of the nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on #Iran, he thought the Iranians would go to him begging for another deal. That was his first mistake. In fact, the decision to sabotage a functional agreement paved the way for the June 2025 war. When #trump joined #Israel's war and bombed Iran's nuclear facilities, he thought the U.S. bunker busters would destroy Iran's nuclear programme. That was his mistake No. 2. He claimed he had "obliterated" Iran's nuclear programme, but everyone else knew what the truth was. It was the failed June war that paved the way for the February crisis. When trump sent his "armada" towards Iran and demanded Tehran surrender its nuclear programme, missile capabilities and its sovereignty, perhaps he thought they would buckle under pressure and give him what he wanted. They didn't. The U.S. and Israel launched the war on Iran on February 28, hoping that the strikes would lead to regime change and a new puppet regime would give trump and netanyahu what they wanted--the Venezuela model. That was his third and most catastrophic mistake. After 40 days of bombing, trump had to announce a ceasefire on April 8. Ever since, the U.S. leader, who in March first week demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender", has been pushing for a deal. trump thinks the threat of war and the blockade would force Iran to make concessions. IT doesn't. Now, stuck between defeat and stalemate, trump is sleepwalking into relaunching the war. His 40 days of disaster has only hardened Iran's position and rendered the country regionally stronger, with the Hormuz Strait firmly under their control. He launched the blockade to put pressure on Iran, Iran responded by relegating the nuclear file in the talks. The pro-war lobby now says the U.S. should strike Iran to enhance the cost, forcing Iran to change its position. These guys never learn, not even from their own mistakes. trump is doing the same thing again and again, expecting different outcomes. If he resumes the war, it would be his fourth major mistake with regard to Iran.
