Hurray! Bharat Pankhania has now resigned as the ceremonial Mayor of Bath and, following his suspension, has also stepped down from the Liberal Democrats. Many thanks to everyone who signed and supported the petition: your voice made a difference. However, this is not enough. He must now resign as a councillor. For the past seven years, he has received a councillor’s allowance while, in my experience and that of many residents, failing to engage meaningfully with the role, including not responding to emails from constituents. His record of deeply concerning and offensive social media activity, including antisemitic content over a prolonged period, is wholly unacceptable for anyone in public office. Residents deserve active, accountable representation. In areas such as Combe Down, there has been a clear lack of engagement and delivery. Public office is a responsibility, not a formality. @reformaggedon Their war against the car has a huge impact on residents’ lives, local businesses, charities, nightlife, the disabled and the elderly. Not just for residents with cars, but everyone. They never consider the long-term implications.

@reform4bath The Libs have systematically destroyed Bath by the war they have waged against the car. A city now hostile to the inhabitants, workers, AND visitors. But they won't stop giving HMO licenses and allowing the Unies to grow uncontrollably and with no end in sight

In the same way local Lib Dems here in Bath have ignored consultations when the majority of respondents don’t agree with what they’ve chosen to do.
