It was great touring the SMART Local 16 Training Facility and seeing the hands-on craftsmanship they are teaching sheet metal workers. I’m glad we have this facility to help keep us safe and bolster the construction industry here in Oregon.

Today, I’m thinking about Dolores Huerta and the burden she carried for decades while leading a labor movement that defined a generation, all while enduring abuse from a man the world celebrated. That sacrifice is one that no person should be forced to make. We must hold abusers accountable without exceptions. Dolores Huerta—and every survivor who carried this pain in silence for years—deserves our support. We must tell the truth about their stories and honor their legacy in a way that reflects their voices and their wishes. I’m committed to doing that at home and across the country.

This war is not in the interest of the American people. You know what is? Healthcare, affordable housing, and lower prices. That’s what I am fighting for.
