The average person is more likely to be struck by lightning than they are to commit voter fraud. Seriously. That's a real stat. I'm voting NO on the SAVE America Act.

Trump promised to go after the “worst of the worst.” Instead, he is targeting Dreamers — children who were brought to the U.S. and who have followed the rules. I joined my @HispanicCaucus colleagues to stand with Dreamers, their families, and the communities that rely on them.

The credible allegations against Cesar Chavez for rape and sexual abuse are horrific. My heart is with the survivors who, for decades, have seen their abuser lauded as a hero. As one of them says: “The movement — that’s the hero."

This is the way.

Republicans held a subcommittee hearing today targeting Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court decision that guarantees every child access to a public education. It is dangerous and wrong to even entertain the idea that some children should be denied that right because of their immigration status. We will fight any effort to undermine this landmark ruling and stand up for every child’s right to learn. @RepEspaillat @HispanicCaucus @HouseDemocrats

Here is my statement regarding the New York Times report on abuse allegations involving Cesar Chavez.

In Congress, there is an understanding that we have simple decorum. As Ranking Member of the @AppropsDems Legislative Branch Subcommittee, I expect we maintain that decorum.

He doesn't know what HSI is. He doesn't know what HSI does. He doesn't know that Trump diverted resources from HSI human trafficking investigations to immigration enforcement. He is completely and entirely unqualified.

Damaris shouldn’t have to fly across the country just to be heard. 86 DACA recipients deported. 174 applicants deported. 260+ detained. And DHS still can’t get their numbers straight. Today, CHC, CBC, CAPAC, DWC, New Dems, and CPC stood united with Dreamers and advocates to call it out.

I was proud to join our community in protesting the proposed ICE detention facility in Marana. Private prisons should not exist. People over profit – it’s that simple!

ICE just picked the same company that provides security for Alligator Alcatraz to turn its mega warehouse in Surprise, AZ into a 1,500-bed detention center. @RepYassAnsari, @Rep_Grijalva, and I are demanding answers and transparency.
