Also slight tangent here but I really am glad that Bungie took a different direction for the firearms they designed in Marathon and kind of went back to their roots in Halo because I genuinely think that Destiny had one of the most ugliest aesthetics in science fiction, so fake

@InsaneProbably @giancar73012035 Unless Durandal lied it can’t be the original timeline because the Phfor seemingly never returned after the first attack on the Marathon ship. Some of the audio logs are dated over 20 years after the first attack and the colony was wiped out by some bioweapon contagion.

It's been almost two months since Marathon came out. Anyone who says Marathon has nothing to do with the og games is either ignorant or lying right to your face, because if you read the game's lore especially the Cryo Archive you'll see that it's all connected to the og games

@Garbear0II9 Look I’d love a 10-20 hour single player campaign but it’s too late. A PvE only mode would not be engaging enough in the game that exists now. The UESC exist primarily as an obstacle that leaves you vulnerable to other runners.

I just wanna say, having a story for an exclusively multiplayer title is so stupid, I’m sorry. Like, if you wanna have a multiplayer story, cool, but you also have to have a singleplayer component to make it matter. Just make single player sci-fi again, fuck.

Has Paul actually played the OG trilogy?
You drop into a level, explore, loot up, shoot enemies, accomplish objectives, and then exfil to the next level.
NuMarathon is not only a spiritual successor but also is directly tied into the lore and gameplay ideas from the OG trilogy.

paul and i actually have very similar tastes. we first connected because we kinda loved every live service game. but Marathon is simply a game i don't want to play. i replay Halo Infinite games to get my "modern Marathon" fix. Bungie simply doesn't make games for me anymore.
